“James quickly accepted my job (within hours). The work was completed within the same week (around 4 days later). The price was cheaper than any other local dealer. James arrived within the specified timeframe. The specified time frame was 6-8pm and he arrived around 6.15pm which was great. He gave a courtesy text to advise he was on his way. He seemed very knowledgeable about his work and was more than happy for me to watch him work and he talked me through what he was doing as he did it. The parts looked to be good quality and he seemed confident with what he was doing. He was able to work in the hours of darkness due to having good powerful lighting. As long as the work holds up I would absolutely use James and click mechanic again. Only thing I could fault was that the day before the work was due to be completed he called me at around 10pm he needed to come and check the size of the brake disks to ensure he was ordering correct size. On the one hand it seemed a bit disorganized leaving it so late in the day to be checking these things but on the other hand I feel it shows James' commitment to his work that he is still working at gone 10pm to ensure the work gets done and by all accounts I'd much rather he comes the night before to check the parts needed than arrive with the wrong parts and not be able to do the work. Also I texted him to ask him to confirm the day and time he was coming (because he changed the original time and day) and he did not respond. However overall it seems unfair to mark him down for these things. If he just made sure to respond to texts and got a little more organised about ordering parts he would be completely faultless. These things are completely constructive and not meant as criticism. Thanks James will use you again.”

Frequently asked questions about Daihatsu car brake inspection, repair & replacements

Read our answers to questions about car brake inspection, repair & replacement costs, symptoms and more.

How often should you get your Daihatsu brakes inspected?

You should get your brakes inspected every 6 to 12 months, for example during regular maintenance, during the yearly MOT the brakes are checked as standard. That said, when a brake warning light or brake pad wear sensor lights up on your dashboard make sure you get the get brakes inspected as they can point to an issue. Most modern cars have a brake pad wear sensor that will light up on your warning dashboard when it's time to get the brake pads (and brake discs) replaced.

However, the brake pad sensor cannot detect and alert you of problems that can occur with other parts of the braking system. So even though you've passed the MOT check and have done an annual service, brake problems can occur in the interim. If you're a regular driver, it is recommended to get your brakes inspected more often, for example every six months or every time you do an oil change.

How long should a brake job last on my Daihatsu?

A brake job like a brake pad replacement can last more than 50,000 miles. It will depend on various factors such as the quality of the brake pads you have fitted, your driving style, and the type of vehicle you own. In certain circumstances brake pads for example may only last around 20,000 miles. Usually, brake discs will also need to be replaced when brake pads are replaced which is an average of around 50,000 miles or so.

  • Anticipate when you will need to brake, and avoid hard braking whenever possible
