Booked in at last minute when another mechanic who was booked several weeks before had to cancel their appointment for the the previous day, The job was for mot, full service and replace fan belt, they turned up within the time specified, took a video of exterior and engine (that's good, protects the business against false claims for damage), car was taken about 9:30 am, I received a text just after 5:30pm to say service done and mot passed, I asked if fan belt had been replaced, to be told they couldn't get one and that is why it took extra time, fair enough this was a saturday and it was a last minute booking so no criticism for that, the text from them said they would be dropping my car off soon... it turned up nearly two hours later. Ok so now for the negatives... they had my car for around 9 hours, bit excessive for an mot & full service, lets not forget the work was completed almost two hours before I got my car back (delivered 7:20 pm). The service report shows green for everything with no comments about anything...the previous year another garage pointed out a number of things which were worn or wearing and would need looking at by the next service/mot, but you guys didn't spot anything worth mentioning? (how about the central exhaust bracket which is corroded & broken, and the rear trailing arms which are worn?). The mot has several advisories... were any of those things repairs you could do? I can't give a rating for the mot & service, these are standard things which we have to assume have been done correctly and to the required standard, So it's on the customer service side that my rating is based... and the one big thing that is missing here is "customer engagement". If your customer feels like you treated their booking as "just another job", then they might not feel any inclination to rebook with you another time (and repeat business is so important to any service/product provider), and this is how I feel because there was zero customer engagement between you and me, regarding the fan belt you could not get on the saturday, why not offer to book me in for that work later? The advisories on my mot, why did you not discuss them with me and give advice?, could you have done some or all of that work?, how about giving me your professional assessment of the fan belt...is it critical or can it wait for a bit?. What you did, was do the work (minus the fan belt, not your fault) you were booked in to do, no more no less. If you want a 5 star review, then you need to give 5 star customer service, as it is what you gave me was adequate, but ultimately forgettable.
