I’ve been using ClickMechanic for around 10 years and have always found it to be a convenient and reliable service, so it’s disappointing to be leaving this review.

The mechanic completed the major service on my Peugeot 5008 and identified that the wet timing belt was deteriorating. He showed me photographs of the cracks, which I appreciated.

Following the service, I was quoted approximately £1,550 for a timing belt repair using genuine Peugeot parts. I later obtained a quote from Peugeot of £795 including VAT for the wet timing belt and water pump. I wasn’t questioning the mechanic’s experience or expecting the quotes to be the same, but I did want to understand the difference.

I asked several times which additional parts were included in the higher quote, as the mechanic mentioned ordering extra genuine Peugeot parts. Despite asking on a number of occasions, including a final message that has gone unanswered, I never received an itemised breakdown or a clear explanation of what those additional parts were.

The mechanic explained that he couldn’t reset the engine management light because the fault was still present, which I understand. However, the service interval wasn’t reset following the major service.

Overall, I appreciate that the timing belt issue was identified, but I was disappointed by the lack of communication and transparency regarding a repair quote of this value. For a repair costing over £1,500, I think it’s reasonable to expect a clear, itemised explanation of what is included so an informed decision can be made. Read more
