In 2002 I set-up Mobile Auto Care with my brother Lee. and the business has grown from strength to strength and we now have 10 mobile mechanics in the team who are all fully qualified. Volkswagen Scirocco Engine rocker gasket replacement (complete middle section)

First visist was Darren together with Lee. They came and did a major service, including swapping out 4 spark plugs and 1 ignition coil due to engine misfire. Turns out the real reason behind the problem was the engine rocker gasket. They did not have the gasket with time (understandable as the initial booking did not request that). First job was a breeze, all was good.

Second job was when the nightmare kicked in. I accepted a follow up job to replace the gasket. And he didnt show, no calls at all to inform me of his no show despite me calling a few times. A while later, he responded, blaming it on the fact that the parts did not arrive and he was in a meeting the whole day therefore he couldnt call me.
Apologized profusely and offered to take 10% off the engine rocker replacement and asked for a second chance at the job, two days later, which I accepted.

Two days later, yet again, another no show, no calls despite me trying to reach him on his phone. Later that day, he replied, this time claiming that one of his mechanics have been in an accident, therefore he could not make it. He then promised he will make good on his offer of 10% discount and complete replacement of spark plugs and ignition coils for free should the unreplaced rocker gasket caused the engine oil to leak back into the plugs and coils. I took the offer, fearing that if the plugs and coils were damaged, other mechanics would not have replaced them for free.

The next week, Lee came around and fixed the engine rocker gasket. 10 minutes later, the bill came but without the 10% discount as promised. So I raised another case to get this resolved. Darren was probably not chuffed having to make good on his promises yet he has the audacity to call it a joke for raising a case to clickmechanic.

To be fair, the work being done was fine and I was planning on leaving a positive review but the lack of professionalism throughout, especially from Darren who runs the business, towards the end was the last straw.

Engage him on at your own risk, on a good day he might be a good mechanic, but if you are unlucky, he can be real nasty.

Yes Jeffrey that’s right we come to do a engine service you booked and carried out a free diagnostic scanner inspection then diagnosed the rocker gasket fault and I’m sorry we couldn’t foresee the rocker gasket issue and didn’t have one to hand to fit.
I ordered the required parts and because there was a delay in parts availability I then offered you a 10% discount because of the inconvenience.
A mechanic then turned up today to complete the work which was carried with no issues at a lower cost even though the delay in parts availability wasn’t my own.
What more could I have done to make you happy.

Never again bad communication.
No call back no apologies nothing not even on the next day" from clickmechanic or from Darren. Waisted my whole day.

Hello Paul the correct reason why the work never got started and completed was SIMPLY your payment details provided constantly got declined and payment authorisation failed so by the end of the day when the payment got authorised it was far to late to start a gearbox removal at 5pm at night so rather than blame myself or Click Mechanic for what’s taken place look at the situation and say to yourself if the payment nether constantly got declined and the payment got authorised the work would have gone ahead and carried out on time and simply no time of my own and yours would have been wasted.
And just to clarify Paul I had a 4 hour slot booked for this job and couldn’t get that time slot filled in time so in all fairness I should be leaving a bad review on you not the other way round.

Lee dealt with my car today. He was friendly and professional. He fully informed me of what was happening at all time. He identified a further problem with the vehicle but was realistic with the timeframe for repair not putting pressure on or going for the hard sell. This in my opinion shows a high amount of honesty and trustworthiness.
