Jon owns and operates SMS Autocare and has been running the business for over 15 years in the Slough area. Prior to setting up SMS Autocare Jon completed his apprenticeship and was then a mobile mechanic for 5 years. The team at SMS Autocare are fully trained and able to deal with all makes and models of cars (including EV and hybrid) and tackle all repairs and MOT's including motor bikes. The team at SMS operate a garage but are fully committed to a collection/drop-off service and have 5 dedicated full-time drivers. For the collection and drop-off facility Jon will contact customers the evening before the booking and inform collection times.

Jon was great, let me know what time he would arrive the day before. He collected my car on time this morning and returned it in the afternoon. Had a major service and a cam-belt change. Cars running very smooth and overall happy with the service I received. Once my car was returned I paid over the phone. Quick and easy.

Jon turned up on time and quickly serviced my car and carried out MOT. He advised me that the brake pads needed replacing and was able to very quickly quote me the price. After having driven the car after all work had been carried out, I was happy that the brakes seem to be much more efficient. Overall, very good value for money.

This is the first time I used this service and I'm pleased. Jon called to advise me when the car will be picked up and called again to advise that the service was complete with an advisory comment.
The car pick-up/return driver was friendly and helpful.
Would recommend this service and will reuse them again.

First time I used this mechanic no problems, but I feel that they do all they can for a new customer , then once that customer is hooked they don’t give a fig...
My appt was between 8-10 , then 15 mins before 10 Jon Called to say it’ll be a little late as his mechanic was running late.
An hour later I got a call from the mechanic informing me he was at the security gate and wasn’t going to come in!!! I was very unhappy with this and asked why and insisted he come into the complex to pick my car up as all previous mechanics did without any hesitation or problem... He eventually did and when we met there was no apology for being an hour late , also there were no pleasantries from him at all he was very rude.
. I asked what time my car would be back and all he said was well when do you want it. I gave him a time and he said OK got in my car and drive off... The next contact I had was him calling me to say I’ve dropped your car off and I’m taking my van , well seeing as the pick up and drop off was from my office , and he was no where to be seen I went outside.. He then appeared gave me my keys and got in his vehicle, My car was no where in sight and it definitely was NOT in my space at my office , he just pointed and drove
Off.. I went to look from my car which was parked a 3 min walk from my office and way past a load of empty spaces he could of used , obviously some petty attempt at retribution as I had dared to question him.
I thought that I had found a good garage with great mechanics and good staff ... although I do believe that the work carried out was good , I will not return to this garage due to the appalling attitude and rudeness I received from the particular person collecting and delivering my car .

Hi this Jon I’m the mechanic who worked on your car thank you your feedback I am aware of the altercation you had with my driver upon collecting your car something we have discussed a length my driver has been with me for 10 plus years and this is the first complaint I’ve ever had something I take very serious as my drivers are the face of my buisness .without fueling this matter anymore I believe it’s in every one best interested to gladly accept your offer of not having any future business dealings I wish the best of luck going forward and appoligies for what you feel was a bad experience.

Hyundai Coupe Clutch replacement

Clutch replacement was complicated by need for flywheel resurface meaning a four day job rather than one and £ 80 on the cost. Not mechanics fault obviously. I was disappointed to learn the guarantee was only one year and 12,000 miles. Mr Clutch is two years and 20,000 miles.
It remains too be seen how many miles it actually does, of course.

Hi this is Jon the mechanic I did the work on your car thank your feed back, you are correct we needed the car longer than expected as we did the work on the Friday and after installing 2clutch kits which didn’t work which we did not charge for we was still not happy and had to remove the gearbox for a third time to get the flywheel resurfaced All caused by excessive heat build up caused by the car driven for a extended period of time with a worn out clutch which unfortunately could not be done untill Monday so 4 days is correct but please understand not everyone works over the weekend and the engineers (third party)do have other work to carry out .
In regards to the warranty this is something you would have been pointed out prior to booking this job in something that the manufacturer of the clutch hands out .
