Jon owns and operates SMS Autocare and has been running the business for over 15 years in the Slough area. Prior to setting up SMS Autocare Jon completed his apprenticeship and was then a mobile mechanic for 5 years. The team at SMS Autocare are fully trained and able to deal with all makes and models of cars (including EV and hybrid) and tackle all repairs and MOT's including motor bikes. The team at SMS operate a garage but are fully committed to a collection/drop-off service and have 5 dedicated full-time drivers. For the collection and drop-off facility Jon will contact customers the evening before the booking and inform collection times.

I am very happy with the technical work carried out, the car drives very well now. Added work was for brakes but an happy with that as new brakes required.
They were friendly and efficient.
The only disappointing thing was a lot of oily handmarks on the outer and inner doors, and front body by bonnet latch which took time to remove.

I booked a morning service and MOT, and the car was collected early, which was great. However, I was very concerned when 3pm came, payment had already been taken from my bank account, but my car still wasn’t returned. When I called to ask for an update, I was spoken to quite rudely by a member of staff who told me they had 17 cars to deal with and hadn’t even had time to eat. I was also told that I should have informed them if I needed my car back by a certain time for school collection.

This was my first time using this garage, and unlike other places I’ve been, I received no calls, and no update about what had or hadn’t been done to my car.

To remove the tires, the car tools were used as I found one on my front seat and the other in the boot , not where they were supposed to be.

For improvement, I would suggest:
• Better communication with customers (updates on progress and paperwork provided)
• Sticking to the timings that are booked
• Treating customers with a more respectful and professional attitude
• Not overbooking cars if the workload cannot be managed

In the end, my car was returned after 4pm, which forced me to use Uber for school pick-up adding an additional £20 Overall, I was left disappointed with the lack of communication and customer service.

Francois, thank you for your comments. We would like to clarify the facts for transparency:
• Your vehicle was collected at the agreed time in the morning. No request was made for a specific return deadline. Had we been informed of this, we would have ensured the car was prioritised.
• At 3pm we called to advise on the estimated return time, and you confirmed this was not a problem. Your vehicle was then returned later the same afternoon, once the work was complete and a driver was available.
• Payment is managed directly by ClickMechanic, not by SMS Motor Engineers. Funds are taken at the time of booking, which is why an invoice was issued once the job was finished.

• You booked an Interim Service and MOT. This does not include wheel removal unless requested as an additional service. Tyres and brakes are inspected as part of the MOT and service schedule, which was carried out.
• Our staff explained that we had multiple collections and returns that day, to provide context on timing. This was not intended to be unprofessional, but to give a clear picture of logistics.

We pride ourselves on providing an honest and reliable service. In this case, all work booked was completed, your vehicle was collected and returned the same day, and updates were provided.
