Renault Clio Diagnostic Inspection

Car started than stalled & wouldn't re start, I was convinced the cam belt had snapped. James, the mechanic, arrived, turned it over on the ignition & said the cam. belt was ok, kept trying & the damn thing started, been ok since so I can`t comment on his work but, from talking to him, he is obviously clued up when it comes to cars. He said if there are any problems give him a call.

Well, James was a decent chap, but without touching the car, he diagnosed the problem as a faulty water pump, had a chat about a few things, and left. He didn’t do any checks to the coolant system so although I felt £50 was a fair price to pay for a coolant system check, as he didn’t actually touch the car, it doesn’t seem good value for money

i do have 35 years experiance and at one point was a senior mechanical advisor to all 136 main dealer rover /landrover dealerships.in s.w England
So I do know a bit about engines and cooling systems.within a few minutes of starting I can hear the engine ran even and no misfire.I also noted when I removed the expansion cap no bubbles where present .I also noticed that no water flow was present and squeezed a number of coolant hoses to demonstrate this to you.So many years of experience and believe me 1000s and I mean 1000s of engines looked at from race cars in the pits to every day road cars I would like to thing I can spot a problem a mile away,and often very quickly.
Now I'm happy that if it turns out not to be water pump related to ask click to refund your fee.and if it is the water pump adjust the star rating to reflect quality.I do get called out to a lot of engine issues jobs and I have to date managed to diagnose each one correctly

Volkswagen Golf Camshaft position (CMP) sensor replacement

One hour for redrilling pump bolts.it did a lot longer but agreed just to charge for one hour

Top notch bloke and did everything required.
