I didn't meet my mechanic. So he arranged things with the seller so I could settle back and wait for his assessment. I clearly ordered the wrong level of inspection since I suspect he summed things up when the door locks didn't work. I think it would be even better if the mechanic called it a day as soon as s/he found the unforgivable and charged accordingly - but I appreciate this is not a garage where s/he would move onto another paid job. I adapted my car search accordingly and bought a Peugeot Partner from a reputable dealer.

He carried out a diagnostic but wasn't able to undertake the repair. He thought it was a gear problem which would need extensive investigation

Although the job was cancelled but the commission and flexibility was brilliant.

Mark turned up when he said he would and sent the report promptly with plenty of pictures. It was a pre purchase report at the garage so I didn't meet him but he kept me informed via texts.
