Well Barry, I find it strange you only just commented on this since early April.
I arrived at the appointment time - if not slightly earlier!
You are obviously an enthusiastic amateur and had been working on this vehicle for many months, including some fairly serious faults which you had not managed to fix. When I arrived the car had been molested to such a degree there were cut and spliced wires everywhere (when I say spliced I mean you had twisted them together and taped them up). Some if the wires were important communication wires and a twisted together wire is not a sufficient fix to restore connection! You had actually caused way more damage/problems to your car than you originally had. You only called us out because you were in such a mess you didn’t know where to go next. You had no intention of employing a professional mechanic to repair your car but simply needed to know where to go next. My diagnosis was clear, that the initial issue had related to fuel pressure problems which I told you about and even suggested if you needed any more advice you could call me - which you did several times (at no point in those calls did you mention your problem with the battery). I’m assuming by your review that you have still not managed to fix your car and your comments are a vent on your frustration however, I did offer to come back and repair the car if you needed my help and I’ve heard nothing from you since April.
I’m guessing but, you must have been expecting a mechanic to visit on a 40 minute call and fix an issue you had been unable solve in 6 months, and after seriously damaging your cars electrical system yourself! I recommend you get the help of a professional mechanic and you should be expecting to pay for around two days labour, a high pressure fuel pump including a timing belt kit and then a professional auto electrician to repair your wiring. Given your car is over 16 years old and the wrong side of 120,000 miles I suggest you assess if the car is beyond economical repair!
The battery I sold you was in fully working order when you got it. I suggest you have likely damaged it by constantly cranking your engine hoping it will start. Read more
