False promises unnecessary work done high cost and didn't take job seriously

Dear Chris,

Let’s get the facts out there please.

1) You paid ANOTHER mechanic to diagnose the problem with your car. On the diagnosis you were given, you instructed us through Click Mechanic App to supply & fit a new starter motor.

2) As your car could not be driven, we collected your vehicle on our car transporter FREE OF CHARGE, as a gesture of good will. You didn’t even thank us.

3) At the pick up, we were very clear that there were other issues with your car apart from the starter motor. You were adamant that your previous mechanic had diagnosed a faulty starter motor and wanted us to proceed with the work.


4) We completed your replacement starter motor request, and as previously advised, there were other issues with the car which would involve further diagnostic & investigation works. We informed you of this as soon as we had confirmed it required further work.

5) It was at this point you decided it was our fault that your car was not working and demanded (with what can only be described as disgraceful language, and an extremely bad attitude), that we get it fixed asap !

6) I explained at this point that we would do our best to diagnose and repair the further problems on your car, but as we had originally only booked enough time in the schedule for replacement of the starter motor, we wouldn’t be able get on your vehicle until the following day.

7) At this point you were offered the use of a courtesy car, AGAIN FREE OF CHARGE, which you declined, and again, no thanks.

8) We quoted you for further diagnostic & investigation works, which you accepted. You then decided 24hrs later that you wanted us to transport the car to a main dealer.

9) We quoted you for the transport, and offered you a discounted rate. AGAIN NO THANKS......

10) When you were contacted to pay your outstanding invoice, you then came up with a story that you’d phoned our office and already made the payment for the transport. This was proved very quickly to be a very poor attempt to scam us, which fortunately we didn’t fall for.

11) When your honesty was questioned and you were proved to be anything but honest, you had what can only be described as a breakdown. Fowl language and a torrent of verbal abuse followed.

12) May I point out, we were still very professional, courteous and polite even after listening to your tirade of abuse.

13) You then contacted Click Mechanic head office (maybe out of embarrassment) and threatened to turn up at their offices to sort them out ! Shocking behaviour and completely unacceptable.

So it’s no surprise that you have left such a negative review.

We went out of our way to help you, (even after we never received any thanks), offered you a courtesy car, completed the works requested, shuffled around our work schedule and transported your vehicle.

How you think this deserves a 1 star review, is beyond me !

Fortunately for us, we have many, honest and trustworthy 5 star reviews.

May I suggest you contact us directly if you wish to make a complaint. Alternatively you could raise it in the Click Mechanic resolution centre.

Communication was great from the moment I booked the work to be carried out online which was replacing break pads. An employee arrived to collect my car as promised and car was back to me within a few hours despite being taken approx 20 miles away to their garage. Even gave my car a clean as part of the service.

They phoned me up and asked if they can collect the vehicle - I told them it had a broken spring so was not drivable. they recovered the vehicle (for free) did the work and brought it back.
price was reasonable and offered to do the MOT I had booked elsewhere.

My car was collected on time and taken to the local garage for the work to be carried out. The breaks were replaced at the agreed price and returned to me a couple of hours later and they'd given it a wash. Good job, highly recommended.

I am currently disputing the amount charged for the labour taken to the job since I believed it was double what it should be even according to their own systems, ie 1hr to replace 'Front Anti roll bar links' (4 nuts to put new ones in for both sides once wheel is off). I was charged 3hrs for those and 3hrs to replace 'Power Steering belt' and one 'Headlamp re-alignment' . All of these jobs should be no more than 3 hrs.
I gave the go ahead at 10pm the night before by text and received my car back around 9.30am. When I informed ClickMechanic, they said the garage said they the work from 5am in the morning (Even 9.
5-5 = 4.5hrs NOT 6hrs). This in my view is very dishonest. This is the first time my car was taken away by ClickMechanic & straightaway I am conned. The other times on my drive this never happened. Also my power steering is still not 100%, it still makes some noise. I will not use neither again. Read more

Dear Dai,

Firstly I must say that I am deeply concerned with the content of your review. We pride ourselves on our customer service, and have an outstanding and unrivaled reputation which we have built up for over 20 years. Please don't surmise, and bring our honesty and integrity into question when it is clearly unjustified.

Secondly, you have not been honest about the material facts in your review. We quoted you for diagnostic works (not mentioned in your review), supply & fitting of 2 x anti roll bar links, headlight adjustment, and supply & fit of an auxiliary belt.

I discussed the quotation with you in detail on the telephone including the price, and as you indicated that you would like the car back the next day, I provisionally ordered the parts required to complete the job to save time, and awaited your instruction to proceed.


You indeed did text me at 10pm on the evening to instruct me to carry out the works at the agreed price. Our technicians do start early in the morning, and there were 2 technicians working on your vehicle for 3hrs (2 x technicians working 3hrs each, is 6hrs). I think you may have assumed that only one technician had been working on your vehicle. Plus the parts were delivered the day before, so were at hand first thing in the morning.

You have also stated that the vehicle was returned to you at 9.30am. This again is not true. The vehicle was returned to your home address, with the works completed and valeted at around midday. You were not home to confirm this, and the keys were posted as instructed.

The vehicle was road tested, and passed off by our head technician as being satisfactory. There were no excess noises to be reported.

I do find it confusing that even though you knew how much the works were going to cost before we carried out any work on the vehicle, you still instructed us to carry the works out, but then proceeded to complain about the price, then question our integrity & honesty, and then write a poor review.

If you genuinely still feel that you were provided with a poor service, please do give us a call and we can discuss any issues you have. Customer satisfaction is important to us, and it's something we never compromise on.
