Princess Road T
I began my career with the Army where I served my time and when I left the Army, I worked and gained experience in all vehicle types working with Tyre Spot, Northgate Vehicle Hire, Petit Forestier, Pullmans & TIP, with all my experience I can repair anything from a car to an HGV.
Whilst working throughout my career I attended Gateshead College to attain my mechanical qualifications.

I set-up my own business Princess Road Tyres in 2018, offering mobile servicing and repairs & we also have full workshop facilities for larger jobs if required.

IF YOU WANT TO BE MESSED AROUND, SPOKEN TO IN A THREATENING MANNER AND THEN FOBBED OFF WITH A £40 ‘CANCELLATION FEE’ USE CLICK MECHANIC.
IF YOU WANT A PROMPT, POLITE AND PROFESSIONAL SERVICE THEN USE THE AA.
CLICK MECHANIC Pre Purchase Inspection £148.20 (take your chance with whether your mechanic is willing to act like a thug)
AA Pre Purchase Inspection £162.00 (decades of business in the motor industry, their business relies on their reputation)
£13.80 difference is not a lot for the peace and mind and the quality of service is leagues apart.
During the afternoon of Friday the 4th of October I used the Click Mechanic online booking form to arrange a pre-purchase examination of a VW Golf in the Stockton on Tees area.
At this point in time I could not be entirely sure of the sellers availability, nor did I even know his address or full postcode. Due to the nature of the type of car it was I fully understood the seller's reluctance to disclose his address. He did state that once he was contacted by the garage he would, obviously, disclose his address to them or at least a location where the vehicle could be examined. Having used Click Mechanic before I was aware that I would be informed of which garage would be carrying out the inspection and I could therefore speak to them shortly after they had been appointed.
I almost immediately received confirmation email and details of the garage carrying out the inspection.
At 5.09 that evening I called the garage. I made the circumstances clear with regards to the seller's availability and location and that they (the garage) would have to make contact with the seller to establish both facts. The mechanic acknowledged this but even then, I felt that he was either generally disinterested or not entirely taking on board what I was telling him.
Despite my attempts to make clear to the mechanic the circumstances and that he should ring the seller I was contacted by the seller to tell me that he had been contacted by the mechanic on Saturday to come out, at that very moment, to inspect the car. And to follow on from this I then had a very angry telephone conversation with the mechanic, if it can even be called a conversation. I believe his point was that he had had to shut down his garage to complete an inspection and that the seller had not been available. I tried to point out to him the details of our conversation on Friday, as the fact that he had 'turned up' to complete the inspection would suggest that he had spoken to the seller. Why did he not then ask the simple question 'when are you available?' as I had asked him to do. This only led to the mechanic shouting even more loudly over me that he did not care and that it was my responsibility to detail the seller's availability and that I owed him for two hours work. At this point I advised him that I would not be happy for him to examine the vehicle and terminated the call.
My points are;
Having used Click Mechanics services before I was fully aware of how their system works and that due to the unusual circumstances I would be able, and would have to, speak to the mechanic as soon as they were tasked by Click Mechanic to make a simple point/request.
I am unwilling to be shouted at down the phone in that manner, under any circumstances, particularly as I was at work.
The person I spoke to from Princess Road was overbearing, aggressive and I would suggest bordering on threatening.
I am aware that the garages Click Mechanic use are not entirely their responsibility but as an internet based company they must appreciate that the garages are very much their public face. I do not feel that this man's poor communication and aggressive nature reflect well on the Company.
Click Mechanic cannot simply absolve themselves of all responsibility for this persons behaviour
This person clearly feels that I am indebted to him due to the temporary 'closure' of his garage to carry out an inspection on a car he could not have known the location of
Due to the last point I was obviously unwilling for this person to carry out the inspection of this vehicle. I was concerned that any inspection he carried out may not be entirely impartial and I believe that any communication we would need to have would be, at best, uncomfortable.
The negotiations I have had with the seller have been fairly prolonged and I am grateful., to an extent, for his patience. I am now concerned that due to any further delay the sale, and my deposit, are in jeopardy.
I have bought a number of cars at distance and rely heavily on inspections to decide whether to continue with a purchase.
I did contact Click Mechanic to request that a different mechanic be appointed as soon as possible to carry out this inspection. I also felt it important that they were aware of the appalling manner that I was spoken to by Princess Road Garage.
Click Mechanic did acknowledge that the way I had been treated had been unacceptable and that they would not charge me for the inspection.
I now discover that I have been charged a ‘cancellation fee’ of £40.
Fuming does not come close.
Click Mechanic - I and my partner change our cars about once a year and I like to keep my cars well maintained. I often buy at distance and know nothing about the underside of a car. I therefore will always arrange a pre purchase inspection. Although I have no complaint about the lady I spoke to your customer service is appalling. I will never use your services again
I only put one star because the site will not allow zero. One star is vastly overrated

Excellent service!
Kept me fully informed prior to, during and at the conclusion of the examination.
While the report was detailed, it very much helped to be able to talk to someone knowledgeable which ultimately meant that I was able to negotiate over price from a strong position.
Have used the service before and will be continue to do so and recommend to friends.

Have to take the car somewhere else for a recheck because of missed issues. Replied once to the message but then not bothered. Shame
Used click mechanic before and had a fantastic experience but this time was a complete waste of money.

Considering the lads came all the way from Seaham and completed the job quickly and saved me from the hassle of taking my motorhome to a garage - there’s nothing to fault. Took it for a spin tonight and the shocks seem fine.
