Jon owns and operates SMS Autocare and has been running the business for over 15 years in the Slough area. Prior to setting up SMS Autocare Jon completed his apprenticeship and was then a mobile mechanic for 5 years. The team at SMS Autocare are fully trained and able to deal with all makes and models of cars (including EV and hybrid) and tackle all repairs and MOT's including motor bikes. The team at SMS operate a garage but are fully committed to a collection/drop-off service and have 5 dedicated full-time drivers. I had a phone call from the mechanic while my car was being serviced/MOT'd to say that the rear brake discs and pads are very worn and he could replace them while the car is still on the rollers. He said it would cost £180. I said if the car will pass the MOT without replacing the said parts then please do not do the replacements as I do not have £180. The mechanic said that was fine, car passed MOT and then I received a quote for £180 from the mechanic in case I would like to get the work done at a later date. 
I managed to source the parts myself for £45 and booked the car in at a local garage to do the replacement of the discs and pads for £43. About £90 cheaper than the quote from your mechanic! As the mechanic at the local garage started to do the replacement I was advised that the discs and pads DO NOT need replacing as plenty of life (more than 50%!) left in them. 
So, because of your mechanics advise I am now out of pocket but also makes me think that if had accepted his quote I would have been more out of pocket and conned! I am frustrated to say at least. 
Also, I have not received a report about the service done by this mechanic and there are signs that the service has not even been carried out to the expected standards. I am going to seek a third party advice to see if this is true and if it is I will take the necessary steps get my money back...

I’m sorry you are not happy with our opion on your car however our service is based on a car doing average mileage per year and I can assure you that your brakes would not have made the next service interval based on this and then of course that would of been blamed on me for not notifying yourself it would seem the cost is more important then the ability to stop the car in this circumstance as £45 for rear discs on pads is very questionable on the quality of material being used one I would not be prepared to install and £43 for labour I’m assuming is a non registered vat garage .
The price of £180 for rear discs and pads inc vat and collection and delivery and fitting plus I lose 20% plus vat from that from ClickMechanic fees is very justified
Please feel free to seek third party advice but your car was serviced based on your requests as for the service sheet this is only provided direct from ClickMechanic office .
