He arrived late, when I tried to contact him his number was not in service.

When he did arrive he did a good job at locating the issue. He then said he would send a quote through the next day on the cost of the work.

I has been over a week and I have had no contact from him at all about fixing the issue, since then he has simply charged me the full amount for the diagnosis. A simple phone call saying he could not complete the job would suffice rather than just ignoring me.

Hi Lawrence,

We did try to communicate with you and we left 2 voicemails on the number supplied to us, we asked on the voicemail to contact us, after we didnt recieve a call back we assumed that the work had been done in house or you had used another garage hence not chasing you, I do recall on the day your happiness at the level of service, we do not have control over the charging system as it is automatically charged straight after we close off the job, we had to close off the job in order to move onto a quote which we did complete and try to get back to you with, very disappointed that this wasnt given to us direct to resolve rather than a public review, I do hope your issue was sorted out regardless.
