Adam was excellent and saved us £100s. We had previously been told the head gasket had failed and would be very expensive to repair. Adam diagnosed the problem as a faulty thermostat (saving us £££s), and carried out the diagnosis, repair, and testing in 24 hours. The car was collected from us and returned to us the next day - brilliant service. Adam was extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and efficient, and was clearly a very experienced mechanic. Can highly recommend. Will definitely use again.

I feel bad as I don't think my issues had anything to do with the mechanic himself...but with the office staff. I booked a slot between 9-11am. At 11:15 I was told someone was on their way. At 11:30 I was called and they told me someone would come between 2-4pm....the mechanic was great when he came and told me the car didn't actually need the work doing that I thought it did. However, the office people weren't sure how to deal with this situation. I was told I'd be charged a cancellation charge. But I was actually then messaged and told I would be charged 30mins labour (when nothing was done other than quick drive up the road). So confirming nothing needed doing coast me £55.70. Read more

Turned up late with no real excuse considering there was a window of 2 hrs I explained I wasn’t happy and wanted updated during the day. I received nothing I eventually called at around 16.45 concerned because of previous comments from reviewers. I spoke to someone who really didn’t have a clue about what was happening with my car. But said it would be back to me in about an hour! There was nothing to be done on the car apart from the service and mot don’t understand why it took all day. On it arriving back there was dirty handprints on the bonnet and looking at the engine there was a cover clip missing, I eventually got the service report one of note check and top up windscreen wash marked as checked! I knew it was low before the service and when I turned the engine on it immediately came up with top up fluid ! Obviously not done, my service history was not reset.

The Mechanic arrived later than planned. They called me up a bit later in the 2 hour slot I picked. But it's hard to complain about this given the type of service it is and I had only booked it 12 hours prior..... Mechanic was nice, he come picked the car up and gave me a rough rundown on what he was doing. I mentioned I needed the car back by 5pmish as it was picked up from work, and he got to me around 5:30pm which I thought was great. When he got back, explained to me what he had done and showed me the new part. He also brought up some other issues he saw along the way, which I already knew about so I know he was 100% honest. Not trying to flog extra work!

Was sceptical about using this service, as it's my first time, but from my experience with this mechanic, it was pukka. Would recommend.

I am extremely disappointed with this booking. I booked the MOT through ClickMechanic because I needed the convenience of someone collecting the car and getting it done quickly, as I need the car for work the next morning.

The mechanic arrived around five minutes before the end of the agreed time slot and only then told me he would need to drive my car around an hour away to carry out the MOT, then bring it back afterwards. He also asked whether he could return the car the following morning, which completely defeats the point of why I booked the service in the first place.

None of this was communicated to me beforehand.
Had I known the car was going to be driven that far, or possibly kept overnight, I would have cancelled and booked locally instead. I was not comfortable with my car being driven an hour away and then an hour back for an MOT, especially when I needed it for work.

Because I declined to let the car be taken under those circumstances, the booking was cancelled, but I have still been charged despite no work being carried out and no MOT being completed. In my view, the issue was caused by poor communication from the mechanic/ClickMechanic, not by me.

I have used ClickMechanic before without problems, but this experience has really put me off. Charging a customer when no work has been done is completely unacceptable. I now feel I would have been better off going to a local garage directly, which is what I will do in future unless this is properly resolved and I receive a full refund.

We are sorry that the booking did not meet your expectations. However, there appears to be a misunderstanding regarding how MOT testing is carried out.

An MOT cannot be performed at a customer's address. By law, the vehicle must be taken to an authorised MOT testing station for inspection. As part of our collection and delivery service, vehicles are collected from the customer, driven to our workshop in Haverhill for the MOT inspection, and then returned once the process is complete.

It is also important to note that an MOT is an inspection, not a guaranteed pass.
If any items fail during the inspection, those defects must be repaired before a pass certificate can be issued. As your booking was for 6:00 PM, it would not have been possible to guarantee the vehicle's return that same evening in the event of an MOT failure. This is what the mechanic explained at the appointment before proceeding with the booking.

The mechanic arrived within the booked collection window and explained the process, including the need to transport the vehicle to our workshop. You then chose not to proceed with the booking and refused the collection service required to carry out the MOT.

The charge applied was not for the MOT itself, nor for any repair work. The charge was a cancellation fee, which covers the mechanic's time, travel, and attendance at the appointment after arriving on site and being unable to proceed due to the cancellation.

We appreciate that this was not what you expected, but the collection, transportation, and MOT process described are standard requirements for all MOT bookings. We regret any misunderstanding and would have been happy to answer any questions regarding the process before the appointment.
