Where to begin. This review is left at a time where I have been billed for agreed and additional works and I am yet to have my car back. EDIT - Car returned at 2100hrs on Saturday night.

Mechanic was late arriving (approx 1 hour). Was expecting work to be done on drive as requested but they wanted to take the car away.

At 1738 hrs, I asked for an update (pads and discs all round) as I expected works to be done that day, otherwise I would have gone elsewhere. I found this unusual that they hadn’t kept me in the loop and I had to chase this.

Apparently the mechanic was sent the wrong pads (assured me not his fault).
Not a problem, these things happen. I explain I’ll need the car back tomorrow regardless of completed works.

I chase for an update the next morning, and I’m assured that parts are being delivered and they’ll be working on it from midday. I further explain I need the car back for 1800 hrs as I’ll be visiting my terminally ill mother in hospital. Again I’m reassured that they’re working on it as fast as I can.

Closer to 1800 hrs I’m starting to get anxious, as not heard anything and what mechanics are working this late on a weekend?

I’m told that there is a problem with my rear callipers both being seized and it’s taking longer than inspected. I reiterate the need to get my car back ASAP. About 1830 hrs get told all is sorted and in approx 30 mins will get car back. At this point I’m charged for the works I requested, and also charged additional sums for works I have sincere doubts were done, no invoice, no proof of works, just a non descriptive image on click mechanic that does not look like my car.

It’s now 2045 - my car has not been returned and the mechanic is telling me he doesn’t know where my car is as he uses subcontractors to do the works and they’re 20 miles away?!
This was never explained to me and this practice is not referred to in the T&Cs.

Car arrives at 2100 hrs and the mechanic has the audacity to ask me to come into my house and charge his phone. Note there are 3x usb chargers lit up in my car and he had a charging cable.

I was apprehensive about using Click Mechanic and I won’t be using them or the mechanic again. Throughout the communication was poor, at times incoherent and stinks of dishonesty.

I am looking forward to my car going into the main dealer on Monday for a full tear down and MOT. Just going through the dashcam footage (discrete) and although nothing to be overly concerned about, I’d expect a bit more care for a car that’s just had new brakes all round.

If I didn’t have so much going on I’d pursue this further but albeit I’m only
down an additional £100 and frustration from this experience.

Mr Jennings I apologise for the inconvenience the job has caused you but please allow me to explain from a mechanical side.

You initially booked in the car in via click mechanic and I organised the booking of the car with mechanics and made arrangements to order the parts. Following this I received a cancellation for the original booking via email.

Unfortunately this is a busy industry and other work was booked in and took priority. Another new job was submitted to click mechanic by yourself a day or two later with additional works added (discs and pads all round and both front callipers) which was accepted.
I contacted you to discuss and confirm timings and went ahead with rebooking the mechanic again.

As you are aware with click mechanic, payment is due in advance to the start of the works, this was initially unsuccessful and I called you to discuss. The job was again held up whilst you rectified this issue. Unfortunately this was resolved at end of business play and the booking and ordering of the parts could not resume until the necessary steps were completed.

The car was picked up the next day in the planned time slot but unfortunately other work was booked in which needed completion first. Parts were delayed because they were ordered later than expected due to the payment issue. When the parts arrived and the vehicle was stripped down on the ramp works commenced to replace the front discs, brake pads and both front callipers. When we moved on to fitting the rear pads and rear discs with built in bearings the parts were incorrect they did not match. You were updated immediately and the discs were measured and reordered to rectify this issue.

Again we are reliant on our suppliers who did not have this part in stock which was a next day mid morning order on a weekend, this was all relayed back to you to keep you informed.

Part suppliers don’t deliver and have weekend opening hours. For your inconvenience, a driver was sent to the supplier 30 mins away before they closed at 1pm.

As a business whilst mechanics are waiting for delivery of parts other work has to continue. When the discs were fitted later that afternoon both calliper pistons were seized solid. In normal circumstances if part suppliers were open we would have requested new callipers to be fitted but this was not an option with part suppliers closed for the weekend. After consulting with you we had no option other than to strip them down to try and service and free off callipers, this takes time. You were fully aware of the works being undertaken on the car and issues we encountered.
Unfortunately when the job was complete and brakes were fully bled with the callipers working the mechanic was on the way and his phone died, these things do happen but not many garages would offer this extended service and I am satisfied that we have done everything to accommodate you.

Richard collected the vehicle to carry out the work of which I was grateful for as there was no other time. The work was carried out to a very high standard and I explained to Richard I had a minor fault with the electronic handbrake which actually caused a lot of issues replacing the rear discs and pads but he managed to do the job regardless of the extra issues faced.

Communication was good throughout and any and all questions asked with quick responses.

Would highly recommend.

Answered all questions and concerns before and after the job , listened to request to see all parts and stamp up the service book . Job was completed and car returned on time.
Mechanic pointed out that cambelt HAD been done at some point although water pump showed signs of starting to leak , old parts were given back . Great job.
