I worked at a garage for a few years after the apprenticeship. I eventually decided to branch off on my own and become an independent mobile mechanic. I now have my own company and I work on a mobile basis. I can work on all makes/models of cars.

I wanted to be present when the servicing was being done (bad experience with Kwik Fit) but since Darren was doing the work at a local garage he took pictures of all the old parts and new parts and shared these with me. This really put my mind at rest and I was really happy with Darren for doing this.

I saw some other comments about communication and I gave three stars because I think it would have really helped to get more info on issues that came up (e.g MOT advisories) for customers like me who don’t know a lot about cars. Nothing negative or serious but little things things that could make the experience better.

The mechanic Darren was punctual, however I was not happy with the work he carried out because he left with the problem with the car unresolved and I was left feeling stupid.

Darren informed me I will have pay the £120 for this job. He said the car needed diagnostic testing and that I will have to pay another amount of money if I want them to return to do the diagnostic testing. I did not find his comments helpful at all and I felt £120 I paid for him to remove my old battery and replaced it with a new one is disproportionately expensive especially as he did not resolve the problem with the car and I feel 'robbed' by this experience because I feel completely unsatisfied by the whole thing.


As it is, I am left with a car that is not starting, but it has a brand new battery inside that has cost me a total of £120. All in all, a very bad experience.

Your request was for a battery replacement. So this is what was carried out and what I came to do. How I’m I meant to know that your car has other issues before I arrive??? I don’t diagnose non stating issues for free. You was given the best possible advice. Had your request been for a diagnostic inspection as if you wasn’t sure of the problem then you should have booked this instead and will say this before you made a booking with ClickMechanic.

Considering you booked what you paid for and received this service. The whole of your review is very unfair, with 1 star in all categories.
