I booked a diagnostic service due to 'a noise under the car' and was accepted by the mechanic Arthur who performed the task at around 18.30 on 5 October 2026. He initially insisted after 3 or 4 minutes that the worn brake pads were the reason for the issue. He seemed to be in a great hurry to leave. It took a further 2 rounds of convincing and asking him to observe while i drove the car around for him to have another look, where he found the fractured rear coil springs to be the actual fault, a rather serious oversight. After the inspection he left me with the list of problems and a quote for repair work. However, upon looking under the car myself only a few hours later i saw what i realised was the gearbox mount, suspended in the air. The bolts had come undone, and slipped off at some point! I had not moved the car since Arthur's inspection. He had been in such a hurry to earn my £72 that he had simply taken the first fault he found to be the cause. And then the second! I had my suspicions, that this man was quite incompetent, belligerent, and impatient. The only grace i have taken is that my instincts proved true, i trust them more, and they are better than ever. This man should not be allowed to risk peoples safety by being in a placement of trust in safety.


While it does pain me to write against this person, who really seems to need the work, incompetence like this could earn someone an early grave.
I cannot hold back on the truth in the case of such a severe safety infringement.
I am sorry Arthur, I do not think you should be a car mechanic. Keep the money, but please don't endanger anymore people with your incompetence. Read more

Arthur arrived on time , was as at previous appointment very polite and knowledgeable. Work undertaken quickly and efficiently. Guarantee explained fully. Would not hesitate to recommend Arthur to anyone needing work/ advice of an excellent mechanic.
