The mechanic was friendly and approachable - he had previously visited a few weeks ago under the banner of Green Flag and had changed the battery at that point. This time his diagnosis was the problem lay with the alternator and obtained a quote from his organisation to replace.

Instead I have just taken the car to an Audi dealership who have instead diagnosed the problem as the battery not been coded to the Battery Management System - as such wrong diagnosis from him and I'm glad I didn't waste money on a new alternator (though I've still wasted £112.79 on a incorrect assessment + still need a new battery as the one fitted apparently doesn't have a code). There looks to be a knowledge gap whereby he doesn't seem to know about the battery coding requirement with Audi as not mentioned on either of his visits (one with Green Flag, the other with yourselves). I had 2 over 2 days as the computer software couldn't be reset on day 1. Both were polite and called in advance, having had regular communication from their central office.

Kieran was great - issue was diagnosed incorrectly, by another garage, but Kieran got the problem fixed and saved me about £80 in the process

The mechanic was fine, However he should not have been sent in the first place if some one had read the comments box on the original email. You should have admitted in the first place that you did not have the capacity to to do the job.
I have since found some one who can do the job.
