My wife was at home when the mechanic came to collect my car for a service and MOT and arrived around 08.00am and returned at 10:00am to tell my wife my car had been MOT'd and passed, but could not do the service because for whatever reason where the car was taken did not have a ramp as apparently the oil was sludgy and needed to be drained from the engine, surely on a service the oil would be changed anyway? Also the car had an oil change last year and since then the car has not done no more than 3-4 thousand miles so why is the oil sludgy as the correct oil was purchased for the particular car, and surely the rest of the service could of been done and the oil left if it was that bad. I am not at all happy as I asked for the service and MOT to done together so the cost would be cheaper, £140 for service and £25 for MOT instead of £75 for just an MOT now I have ended up paying £75 for an MOT only, when I could of got it a lot cheaper elsewhere. and this has happened through no fault of my own and can not see how it can be justified that I end up being the loser and costing me more money. and being told not to use the car until the problem is fixed without the mechanic giving a solution to the problem and where to get it done. NOT AT ALL HAPPY. if this had gone to plan both my car and my wife's car would of gone to Click Mechanic for future work but not now. Read more

Good afternoon Peter, the communication between you and your wife has not been correctly transfered. We are mobile mechanics, therefore unable to bring an VOSA approved MOT test centre with us, to your house. We took the car for MOT, and it passed with no advisories. On return I opened the bonnet, and removed the oil cap to start the draining process. (removing the cap makes it drain quicker) I then discovered that your oil had gone to the consistancy of slime. | said to your wife that this could be because it may be old oil, or even potentially a head gasket problem. I also said that, we are more than happy to come back and diagnose the issue. I mentioned to your wife that the oil was so thick it would be impossible to drain or syphone, therefore would have to go to a static garage to have the sump (bottom of engine) and rocker cover (top of engine) removed, to have the oil manualy cleaned rather than drained. Me and your wife then looked in the service book to find that the car was serviced 4 thousand ish' mile ago, however this was done in lincolnshire, prior to you purchasing the car, as your wife stated. The stamp prior to the last one was the same garage. I did explain to your wife that this was could be a dodgy stamp, however this is an assumption and I can not prove anything. I then removed your oil cap and took it to your front door to show your wife. I dipped my finger in the slime substance to then find that my finger was as clean as it was before I dipped. This would prove to your wife that draining the oil via a 8mm hole in the bottom of the engine; that the slime substance would stick to the engine, threfore not drain. I did then ask your wife to get you to call me, which you have not, to discuss, where im sure I would of explained better having a conversation with yourself. I personally believe this would of also been a different review score after me explaining. The price for an MOT alone is £75, this includes collection & delivery. This is discounted to £25 with a service. I did not carry out a service, just an MOT. I am more than happy to service the car with a diduction of £50 if and once the oil problem is resolved.
