Volvo V70 Handbrake cable adjustment

Russell arrived over an hour late. I had to phone him to find out where he was. No apology for that was forthcoming.
The car had failed the MOT on park brake efficiency.
He adjusted the travel of the hand brake itself. However, despite giving a show of working on the rear wheels, the car subsequently failed its retest. I have since found that to fix the problem, the wheels had to come off; that did not happen.
Very disappointed. I won't be using Russell or Click Mechanic again. Just shoddy.

Afternoon Richard,
After reading this review it would have been best practice to call Russell so we can help sort this issue out. However from what you have stated it does not add up to what happened. When arriving to this job you had 10+ clicks on your handbrake which is very loose. After adjustment on the handbrake cable we lowered it to 6 clicks and make the handbrake stronger
When showing us the MOT Sheet it read a parking brake efficiency of 14% which is 2% off the legal minimum. By us adjusting the handbrake as much as we did it would be impossible for the vehicle to have not pass the MOT.
When Russell was working on your rear wheels with the rear jacked up he was greasing your caliper parking cable arms to allow them to move freely and not get stuck. This allows for a longer life on the cable and caliper

Happy with the work carried out ,
Unhappy that i booked a day off work and he was to arrive by 1200-1400 and then had a call at 1505 saying that he can’t make it due to the job he’s on is not finished and will be there the next day
Next time I will put it in the garage as I won’t have too worry if the mechanic will turn up or not
Plus they can charge £20- £40 if you miss the appointment but you can’t charge nothing if they cancelled , very upset

Russell and the team were fantastic from the off. I had taken the car to my local garage who couldn’t find where the noise was coming from, Russell found it within 5minutes of turning up, ordered the parts and fixed it. One happy Honda again. Great communication throughout, especially after the initial auxiliary part sent to him was the incorrect one. Couldn’t recommend highly enough
