Ford Ka Alternator drive/serpentine belt replacement

James came on a Wednesday, to change the belt of an alternator as it got broken after a hard noise came from the alternator sections. Job was meant to be lasting for less than an hour, however, as soon as he turned he opened the bonnet and noticed that there was more damage and he does the following communication to clickmechanic:

James has indicated the booking is complete and £63.11 has been charged to your card.

== FAULTS IDENTIFIED ==

Importance: CRITICAL
Description: Damaged pulley
Fixed by mechanic?: No

He basically charges me for an hour, identifying that the problem is a broken pulley and a new alley is needed.
He also says that because additional work is need, extra labour must be paid at half rate for an extra half hour ( 28 quid ) this gets me really frustrated because he literally opened the bonnet had a look inside. did not leave the belt he purchased and left, charging 63.11. All of this in 5 minutes, but I was charged for a full hour of labour, when even to be more fair, some additional check could have been done in the card.

I complained but did not get anything back, I just wanted to get the job done so I decided to give it a go.

He made the 2nd visit today (Friday) and when I thought I was going to get rid of this nightmare, he says that the lower bracket support for the alternator is broken, therefore, even if the alley was bought to replace the broken pulley, he now raises the following email to clickmechanic and charges the 28 pounds extra and says the following:

James has indicated the booking is complete and £28.00 has been charged to your card.

== FAULTS IDENTIFIED ==

Importance: CRITICAL
Description: Car stripped to fit belt and pulley only the find the mechanic who fitted the alternator has also broken the bottom bracket as well.explained to the customer to go back and see the first mechanic who carried out the job.given the customer the new belt.
Fixed by mechanic?: No

James seems to have a lot of experience, maybe with some other vehicles, such as Land Rovers and, despite of his 30 years of experience, as he says he has, I can't believe that what he did was to blame the first mechanic when clearly, because of the short time spend during the first visit and the poor observation, that only took him 5 minutes without checking everything properly, I am now paying the mistake as I've paid now 63.11 + 28.00 + 27.00 (for the alley to replace the pulley) a total of 118.11 for not job done at all. For this money, I could have paid a couple of hours in a Garage and probably by this time everything would be probably be fixed and I would have the car back without blaming the labour from others, fact that only looks like you are in a third world country. Very poor quality and an evident lack of honesty.

I won't accept the job now even if it's for free I would also never use Clickmechanic again as I felt I've been let down, but don't worry, I will spread the word and make sure more people is aware, including my own Union to see if anything could be done complaining to the OFT.

Reply from Dorset/Hampshire:

I think we need to be fair,I drove out to you to fit a part you had asked click to fit,when I arrived it was found that the alternator it's self was broken at the pulley.so a follow on booking was agreed,so a second trio was made out to you,I then find that one of your mates has attempted to fix the car and now has damaged the bracket that hold the alternator on to the engine.
So a second wasted journey.so yes it's another bill.i have to pay for my fuel and time.i know your not happy having to pay a bill and still no car running,however turning up to repair a car that you or one of your friends has advised the wrong fault,and then as you admitted using a long bar to try and held the alternator as the top bolt would undo isn't really the best way to fix a car.
