Mohammed R
Having previously worked for one of the U.K largest used car dealership I gained valuable
experience working with all makes and models for 6 years. I then moved on to further my experience and worked for a Jaguar Land Rover main dealer for 2 years and Mazda main dealer for 1 year until I decided to open up my own mobile mechanic and vehicle recovery business.
I operate around Essex, London and surrounding areas, so whatever the issue is I can get you back on the road.

Peugeot 407 Standard Pre-purchase Inspection

I have used Click Mechanic 3 times before to do a pre-purchase inspection and was pleased with the results and had no need to complain. So you can see from that that I am just complaining for the sake of it. I really wish this mechanic had not accepted my booking. The point of the inspection was to allow me to decide to buy the car or not as I could not visit it myself at the time. But the poor report, illogical scoring and the lack of clarifications and communication from this mechanic means I cannot do this !

He paid no attention to the particular issues I asked him to check (highlighted on the booking form, text message and e-mails), was hard to get hold of and didn’t answer my e-mail after the booking to clarify issues in his report.
On top of this he gave a bad impression from the start, asking me several times (including on the morning of the inspection) for the address / phone number where the car was (when I had provided it by text message / email and it was also added by yourselves to the booking request). On the report he gave the car a score of 16/100, when I asked him why it was so low, he said he didn’t know what I was referring to with this number !!?? But it is on his report ! And 95 % of issues were found to be in good condition on the car, so how can he give it a total of 16 / 100 ? So what’s the purpose of this score if he doesn’t even know it’s meaning ? What am I to deduce from that , that the car is a complete wreck ? He also put a photo of the front brake pads, but said their condition was good on his report, so why is there a photo of them ? He didn’t confirm to either me or the car owner when he was going until just before the booking (even though I asked him to), and only did when being chased up by me.

The owner said he arrived at the last minute, spent the whole time there on his phone, and only took the car on a 5 minute drive at low speed. But on this drive he was able to deduce the car needs new rear wheel bearings !?

The last person I used with Click Mechanic was excellent, and even called me when I was abraod to give me further information. I asked that this mechanic today pay attention to whether there were any warning lights on the dashboard (ie for ABS or parking sensors), asked if there was any misting on double glazed front windows, asked to check sat nav display was OK, simple things that would have taken seconds. I got no answer to any of these questions ! Instead he said ‘Dash screen faulty not clearly displaying’ . What does that mean ? He said the air con ‘was not cold enough’ (it was 32 C when he did the check on 26/07/18), so how does that information help me ? I have no idea if it just needs re-gassed or if there is something more serious wrong with it !

I really am very annoyed with this inspection and the lazy attitude of this mechanic who thinks nothing of asking you 3 times for the same information. I had to enter a postcode 2 miles away on the booking to make it work for some reason. I also added the correct one with an explanation on the booking, and also explained this by text to him the evening the booking was made. An hour before the booking he asked me ‘what is the postcode’ ? And what is the owners phone number and details, even thought this was given in the booking by me, and again by me in the text message I already mentioned ! This is really just not professional of him !

So in summary he didn’t seem to understand how the Inspection report worked (points out of 100), he didn’t pay any specific attention to the issues I asked him to check, he didn’t reply to my e-mail asking for clarification of things on his report, and his poor customer service (ie asking the same things several times), and the fact I will have to go and check the car myself now in order to be able to decide whether I still want it ! Making the inspection itself fairly pointless !

Hi Graeme apologise if you feel that way.
I answered all your queries and have mentioned to you I will try my upmost to carry the inspection. I asked for your email so I can have contact with you and as not everyones able to call or text international.
I did have the information of the seller's address but you did not provide seller's contact number. You also added 2 postcode to which confused me and was not sure to which post code I am heading to and there was not any explanation regarding this to therefore asked you in the morning of the booking to then which you provided 1 postcode. I confirmed to you when I will be arriving just before the booking as I had a job before yours and would like to give a realistic time closer to time rather than guessing and considering traffic etc which i made in time for the booked time.

We as mechanics don't see a score of overall so therefore I am not aware of this as we just get a check list and score as a traffic light system. This is something you will have to discuss with Clickmechanic.
To make it easier for you I took a picture of the front brake pads so your aware of the condition of it as you mentioned but clearly your not happy with the picture.
There was not any warning lights that's why I have scored it green if there was I would have marked it red and give the reason.
The dash screen faulty means the screen is clearly displaying the information on the screen where the mileage info is.
Air con is not cold enough, please not this only an initial inspection not a inspection and diagnostic. I took the vehicle for more than 5 minutes and took the vehicle to 40mph also the owner was not with me so I dont understand how you have this information. I was on my phone the whole time because I was filling in the checklist on my phone once again I fail to understand your point.
I always try my upmost best to make the customers happy and in ease as my previous reviews speaks for itself so I believe 'lazy attitude' is totally wrong.
