The car now seems to be functioning perfectly. Maz's diagnosis appears to be what was wrong with the gear box.

However, if the oil in the gear box was not correct, it must have been put in on the last occasion that my car had its clutch replaced and this work was done by a "Click Mechanic" operative based at Barnsley.

Maz was an absolute godsend when buying my car. He called me the evening before the inspection to talk me through the process, carried out the inspection extremely thoroughly & then took the time to talk me through the results for a good half an hour afterwards. I cannot recommend him highly enough

He's not yet completed the job. He's only assessed what's required and is coming back with some gear box oil. We'll wait and see what results from his decision.
