John arrived at the time arranged, was warm and friendly, and got straight to work fitting a new catalytic convertor on my Citroen C3. He seemed well prepared with his tools and equipment and the work was done tidily. After fitting John took my car for a test drive and everything seemed to be working as expected.

Before John left I tested the car using my own OBD reader and everything seemed fine there also. Since having the part fitted I have done some test driving, including looking at OBD data, and I think the problem I had, which had been ongoing for quite a while, is now fully resolved which is very pleasing for me.

Great service, lovely mechanic and fair pricing. I wouldn't hesitate to use again, I would use this service first before anything else.

I don't like leaving bad reviews but on this occasion I feel I have to.

The job took around 5 hours in the end when I was quoted 1-2. That's fine as I understand sometimes there can be issues but the mechanic told me I was "getting a good deal on labour".

Unfortunately he drained all the coolant on the road which left a slick. One of my neighbours pulled him up on this and we had to hose it off, there was still some the next day so I had to go out and jet wash it off. Another neighbour also knocked on my door not happy about this.

My main issue was when the job was nearly completed I was given the key back, I asked did he take it for a test drive and he said no, everything was fine - I drove it to the end of my street and back and it seemed there were no issues. He did say that there may be an issue with the coolant level dropping - he could tell I wasn't happy with this and said "no, everything will be fine". The next day I drove 3 minutes out of my village and the coolant light came on telling me to turn the engine off. I had to leave the car on the side of the road and go to a shop in a taxi to buy coolant. I did call him and he answered but by then I didn't have time for him to come and resolve.

I should have insisted on a 20 min test drive and that's on me but what he said might happen did and I was really late for work as a result. Read more

John was very friendly and clearly knew his job. Sadly through no fault of his own the part he was ordered to fit ,did not solve the problem. I am very disappointed ,but recognize it was not his fault.
The previous diagnosis was incorrect.
