BMW 3 Series Carried out diagnostic. Found stem seals to be faulty. Rear oil main seal to be leaking. Timing chain to be slightly loose. Sump to be leaking rocker cover to be leaking. Recovered car back to customer as not safe to drive

The mechanic was friendly enough and took the car away to be looked at, when they brought they car back they told me 4 seals had blown and an internal seal which would result in a £1200 bill. I knew this was incorrect . I took it to another mechanic who told me only one seal had blown and would cost £103. I have since had that seal fixed and the car is working fine. Further more the car was covered in tree sap after being told it had been on the ramp for 3 days. And to make matters worse i have always looked after the car and care for it, but when it was returned there is considerable damage to the bottom skirt. All in all i am extreamly unhappy. Read more

Dear Mark,
even though you claiming only one seal was replaced and car is working fine i still maintain our diagnostic on your car,
external seal (gaskets) does not cause your car to smoke...
We deal with bmw nearly everyday and our technicians are fully qualified.
We would not half do a job as we have to guarantee our work.
Furthermore i never told you your car was on the ramp for 3 days.
After the diagnostic we parked the car while i was pricing the job the most cost effective way for you.
Your car has a timing chain issue also (if you can be bothered to do so read up about BMW timing chain issue online especially on a 320i)
Finally your car was driven to the garage as you said it can be driven and brought back to you on recovery truck as it was unsafe to drive.
At no point we caused damage to your car.

We were unfortunate to buy a car that had hidden problems, and the garage we got it from was very unhelpful ( something that we are now taking further), so had no choice but to look around for someone else to fix it. My husband did a bit of research and we settled on ClickMechanic! The guys they sent to us s were very helpful, super approachable and easy to talk to.
