Kia Soul Starter motor replacement

I booked a starter motor replacement through ClickMechanic, thinking that was the cause of my car not starting. The mechanic replaced the starter motor, but the car still does not start, and it turns out the starter motor did not need replacing.
I feel I was charged for an unnecessary repair, and the underlying issue remains unresolved. I would caution others to ensure the problem is properly diagnosed before choosing a specific repair option.
Reply from Steven:
Hello Niranjan, I have never had to leave a response to a negative review as this is our first since we started trading back in 2015 so please forgive me if I don’t quite get it perfect.
You booked a starter motor replacement for your vehicle via Click Mechanic, before we accept any jobs we check your answers to the questions provided, we seen you answered yes to the question, ‘Are you sure this is the repair required, have you had it diagnosed?’ And accepted the job based on this information. On arrival we checked your old starter motor as per click mechanic guidelines and found that it had indeed failed and was not responding in any way.
After replacing the starter motor the vehicle then began to ‘turn over’, meaning that the starter motor repair was successful however it seemed that there was a fault causing the vehicle to not start when being cranked. It then became clear that this none start issue was present before the starter motor failure and that the starter motor failure had only occurred as it had been burnt out or rather cranked continually leading to starter motor failure. This was not mentioned to ourselves before attendance.
We explained to you that a diagnostic was required now that the vehicle was cranking however you proceeded to demand we remove the starter motor as you did not wish to pay for a diagnostic and that a full vehicle diagnostic session should be included in the price of a starter motor. We advised you book a diagnostic via click mechanic as we do not take work outside of the platform however again you were unhappy with this and demanded we remove the starter motor and issue a full refund. This was not possible, the starter we replaced was infact faulty and we do still have it in our possession for any inspection. We cannot return a new starter motor once fitted to a vehicle if it is in working condition.
Can I also remind you here that it is not ourselves who set prices for these jobs, it is click mechanic, thrusting your phone into a mechanics face to show disagreement at a price when it is yourself who has accepted the quote can be deemed rude and inappropriate.
However despite our interaction, the negative review, my attempt of response to a negative review and despite this situation unsettling me before my tea after a long day of 5 star service. I do still hope that you take my advice, book a diagnostic & have your vehicle repaired promptly.
Please show a little decorum to the next mechanic. Also remind them the starter motor fault has already been repaired.
Have a nice evening Niranjan.
Thanks, Steve.
