They came and took the car to their workshop and returned it 2 hours later having completed the work (replaced front brake discs and pads). All seems fine. Thanks.

Mazda CX-3 MOT with collection & delivery

The mechanic was professional but not particularly friendly. I found him a little prickly when I tried to question when I might get the car back. I know an MOT can be unpredictable but I found it difficult to get a clear idea of what to expect. Also, I still haven't received any paperwork for the work done. I had to go to the gov.uk website to check that the MOT had been done.

Unity has received the feedback regarding the recent MOT service. While the goal is always to provide a seamless experience, there are several points of context regarding the digital process and the timeline of the day that should be clarified.
Digital Documentation and Certification
Regarding the lack of physical paperwork, it is important to note that as of last year, there is no legal requirement for garages to provide a printed paper copy of the MOT certificate.
The standard procedure is now digital; the MOT result is uploaded directly to the government database. Accessing the status via the gov.
uk website, as was done in this case, is the official and accepted method for vehicle owners to verify their certification.
Timeline and Expectations
There appear to have been some logistical misunderstandings regarding the scheduling of the work:
• Arrival Delays: Records indicate that upon arrival for the collection, the mechanic was kept waiting for 10 minutes with no response at the door or to phone calls. This initial delay impacts the scheduling for the remainder of the day.
• Service Window: The booked slot (10:00 AM – 12:00 PM) was for the collection of the vehicle, not for the completion of the entire MOT and subsequent repairs. Expecting all work to be finalized within that two-hour window is unfortunately unrealistic given the technical requirements of an inspection.
• Pre-existing Issues: It was noted beforehand that the tires might require changing. Had these been replaced prior to the MOT, the turnaround time would have been significantly faster. Addressing known faults before an inspection is always the most efficient route to a quick pass.
Professional Conduct
While the mechanic’s demeanor may have felt "prickly," it is likely a reflection of the pressure caused by the initial delays and the subsequent communication regarding the unrealistic completion time. However, Unity takes all comments regarding professionalism seriously and will use this feedback for internal review.
