I was looking for a Nissan 350Z, and found the perfect low mileage, one owner car in a nice colour… in Northern Ireland, 500 miles away. I really needed an independent inspection before deciding to book a plane ticket. Andy did a great job; he managed to reassure an anxious seller of his legitimacy; he checked the car over thoroughly, and carried out my extra request to make one particular check of the warm idle oil pressure, which is critical on these cars. He then called me and talked me through his findings. The car had some noticeable bodywork issues which weren’t described in the ad, so I was very glad to be aware before travelling, he also took photos of all the little dings. Andy went into detail about the defects, but also kept things in proportion. In the end the price was right so I went ahead. It was great on arriving in Belfast to find the car just as I was expecting it, no nasty last-minute surprises, which made the actual buying process straightforward and easy. The only thing to be aware of is that the standard clickmechanic inspection form is a fairly minimal poor/ok/good/excellent checkbox affair, so most of the value is in the photos and the verbal advice that Andy gave - which he did a good job of.
Anyway, if you’re looking at travelling to buy a car around the Portadown area, I think an inspection from Andy is well worth the cost, because you can make an informed decision before you start buying plane and ferry tickets. Read more
