Volkswagen Golf Replacement Of Fuel Injector and Seals

Martin was his name. Got him to come and fix an injector that had broke in my Golf, said he could do it which was fine. Told him I needed it fixed quickly as it was my transport to work, he said should be done in a couple of days. Over 2 weeks later before it was fixed but he had caused another issue in my engine bay due to lack of care and attention. Broke 2 small wires and said they couldn’t be fixed, only new wire added to them but couldn’t get connectors for them so they are held together with tape. During the final stages of getting my car ready he also caused an oil leak in my engine bay which held back to the finishing time for my car and all over my mono block driveway which had just been cleaned not that long before. One other thing that he done was dropped a bolt from the manifold into my engine bay and couldn’t find it and just said it will fall out eventually, really not caring and this also held back the finishing of my car. He said he would come and fix the oil spill with a cleaner he had and the oil would be gone, never did. I contacted him about this and he said to get quotes for the driveway to be cleaned and he would contribute to the cost, bear in mind it was his fault but I was the one to get companies out for quotes, I don’t have time for that so I said he should do it, got nothing back and when I asked why it was taking so long to do this he got annoyed and said it wasn’t his responsibility, which it is as he caused it and he wouldn’t be contributing to it anymore and not to contact him anymore. The full cost of cleaning the driveway should be paid by him and him only but it never was and my driveway has a big oil stain on it now. A reminder to never have this guy anywhere near my car again and if I was you keep clear of him. Not sure if anyone from Clickmechanic will read this but if you do I’d like to hear your thoughts on this so get back to me. Read more

I’m disappointed to see this poor review 5 months after the job was completed so a little background for anyone who may read this review and it’s response, please read to the end and you will be able to see this is an attempt to manipulate me into cleaning his driveway for free
Yes the vehicle had a leaking fuel injector which was repaired as required as the review doesn’t state an issue with the vehicle at present.
While removing the inlet manifold I did accidentally pull on the runner control wiring splitting the wiring at the plug, genuine vw connectors for the plug were sourced and were then used with a small repair section of wiring which are now connected with crimp connectors, due to the gauge of the wiring the repair is visible as the wires are very fine but is working as required.
Part of doing this repair one of the manifold bolts dropped while refitting as they are awkward to locate, the manifold was taken back off to search for the bolt however the bolt could not be seen as there are a lot of components at the front of the engine and has clearly went behind the water pump/thermostat assembly, I then ordered a genuine vw bolt to replace this at a cost of approximately £10 and instructed customer the old bolt should fall out on its own and should be disposed of if found, the alternative is a strip down of the front of the engine which would’ve had to charge for due to the time required to do so and additional parts required.
As for the oil leak when removing the oil filter to do the wiring repair the sealing ring was intact when refitted the ring split and this is due to it not being previously replaced at service as sealing ring had oil still on it which would lubricate the sealing ring so had no other reason for splitting on fitting.
I then offered the customer a full service as a courtesy, this I usually charge £200 for which he said was unnecessary just to renew filter and top up oil and spent 2 hours cleaning the driveway with the customer there who assisted with his pressure washer and hose at which point I instructed the customer we would have to let it dry out and go from there so that’s what we did.
A few weeks later the customer informs me there’s still a stain which I then said get me a quote and I’ll make a contribution, again as a courtesy as when having work carried out in your driveway there is always a risk of spillages/mess etc so offered a contribution to the repair at which point the customer tells me he doesn’t have time for this and I would have to do it. At which point rather than being rude and telling the customer I wouldn’t be doing this I left the ball in his court, he says he’s too busy to do this but expects me to sort it when I work 16 hours a day most days if he hasn’t got time then I certainly don’t either.
The customer then messages me with nothing but disgusting attitude speaking to me like I’m a child he’s telling off which I simply WILL NOT tolerate from anyone at which point I told him my goodwill gesture was gone and to sort this out himself I then proceeded to block his phone number as a means to avoid further dispute on this.
As for the customers delay in having the repair finished that is outwith my control, I place orders for parts and have to await their arrival, genuine parts can take longer to arrive, just because I’m waiting on parts for jobs doesn’t mean other people don’t need my services and he was slotted in where I had space, everyone has to wait their turn and I slotted the customer in where I could.
Given the information above from myself if you’ve read this far I hope you can agree I was more than fair with this customer and hope it doesn’t cloud your opinion of my business, the repair was done, to a satisfactory standard and this review has been used to pressurise me into cleaning the driveway which I will not be doing, I’ll go out of my way for any customer who comes to me for repairs however I expect basic respect otherwise my assistance will stop it’s not a hard concept and rudeness/abuse/disrespect will not be tolerated in any instance.
Message to customer
May i remind you that you chose me to carry out the work on your vehicle and you made no attempt to show your displeasure at my work until things aren’t going your way, your vehicle is repaired to the same standard you would pay for at Volkswagen having worked with the brand extensively i know the repair processes used.
You chose to take a poor attitude with me it’s your property it’s your responsibility to authorise contractors to work on your driveway not mine it’s not my house I don’t live there and i cannot take responsibility for any damage a contractor may or may not do to your driveway and as such will not open my business up to that risk, i gave you the option of my assistance and you chose to be difficult about it, goodwill is only extended to those who deserve it and as such on this occasion I won’t be extending any goodwill to yourself, I’m a mechanic not your servant.
