Arrived an hour late. Carried out the diagnostic's. Then cleaned the DPF. After he said the turbo was faulty and if I drove the van the DPF would clog up again. If he had carried a diagnostic test prior to cleaning the DPF he already knew the turbo was faulty. Clearly cleaning the DPF was pointless until the turbo was sorted. At this point the mechanic offered to change the turbo for £900. This seemed a little costly so I made some enquiries. A new turbo is £200 max and should take no than two hours. I feel £350 per hour labour is a little expensive as is £290 for not clearing the original fault.
I have since used a fuel additive to clean the DPF which has worked and the van is running fine.
As for support from yourselves. I was told to contact the mechanic. Who still blamed the turbo!!! If he still blames the turbo performance readings can you ask him if he has a certificate of conformity or calibration certificate for his diagnostic equipment ?
I know a refund won’t be an option but after all the praise you give your “mechanic “ that would be the decent thing.

Hi Alan. Thank you for taking the time to leave me the feedback. First of all I have arrived within the given 2 hrs timeslot. Second: you’ve been given the price of 750£ for replacing the turbo, and the part at euro car parts store is 620£ so, the labour was 130£ for 3-4 hrs job.
3. 200£ for a turbo? Sorry we don’t buy parts from Lidl or use second hand parts.
And I’m sorry that I couldn’t fix your van (to replace turbo and clean the dpf) for the price of cleaning the dpf service. Have a wonderful day!

Yes Marin was friendly and knew what he was doing although i had to question some of his advice regarding the turbo fault. Once the DPF had been cleaned the Engine management light then went out so no actual fault with the turbo at this time.
