Carlo did an excellent job changing the alternator on my wife's 2015 Ford Kuga. However, he was let down by the Click Mechanic database. The database suggested it was a 2 hour job and Carlo planned and quoted on this basis - this figure must be based on the diesel version, where the alternator is much more accessible.
For the petrol engine in our Kuga - it was more like a 6 hour job including exhaust manifold removal, wheel & wheel arch removal and engine mount loosening, to gain access to change the alternator. It was touch & go whether the job was too extensive to actually be conducted on a driveway.
To Carlo's credit, he persevered in the cold and completed the job successfully and to a good quality. I urge Click Mechanic to update their database for this particular job and potentially review all their time estimates for jobs on the petrol Ford Kuga. Read more
