Volkswagen Polo Starter motor replacement

The mechanic arrived on time carried out the work, but before contacting me he took the money from my account. When I went to talk to him, it turned out the replacement part had not resolved the issue. I was disappointed that the money was taken before the mechanic talked to me.
When I followed up with the AA it turned out the work done was unnecessary as the original part still worked. I asked the mechanic to come back and re fit the part (as I was concerned the new part may not work due to something the AA said) they argreed to return and even phoned to say they were on the way and they never turned up or contacted me to say they weren't coming.
There has been no contact since.

Hi Amanda,
Thank you for you feedback, however :
1. The money never been collected without the job being completed as we are not able to.
2. We have never diagnosis your car, you have mentioned to our mechanic and as per your request on Clickmechanic app that (AA diagnosis your car with starter motor fault ) and we have change the part as per your request.
3. As soon we have change the part suddenly AA come back and diagnose the car again saying that the starter motor has been changed unnecessarily.
As we have mentioned new part which was fitted is under warranty .

Showed up on time and was polite. The diagnostic cost was extortionate for what you get, but that’s not his fault. The diagnostic wasn’t the most thorough, but then again, it wasn’t terrible.
