Click mechanic will quote on your job, if you accept the quote then you have to enter you card details. That’s it, they’ve got your money, there is no way back.
I accepted a quote for £990 to fit a new clutch and flywheel, is was within a few pounds of Mr Clutch’s quote and a little cheaper than my local garage, neither of the other’s could do the work until the following week and I have a long journey this weekend so wanted to get it done ASAP.

Shakil’s Garage accepted my booking to fit a clutch and flywheel to my Audi, they were able to collect the same day - some bloke arrived at my house, I gave him the key, he took the car, very unnerving…. .

It was delivered back the following evening (Tuesday) supposedly repaired. I was out so the key was put through my letterbox.
When I got home from work I went for a test drive to Tesco, so far so good, drove there without issue, clutch no longer seemed to be slipping.

I then tried to engage reverse gear..... there was a clunk and the gear lever went sloppy. No reverse, no 1st, 2nd, 5th or 6th….
I had to push the car out of the parking place and very gingerly drove home using 3rd and 4th gears as they are the only ones that I can select.
I then received a text from Shakil’s asking for a review, I told them that I wouldn’t write a review yet as I had an issue and explained the situation.

The response? “yes, the gear linkage was very weak” That was Wednesday, as I write this review on Saturday, they have not been to look at the car and really don’t care.

I am not a mechanic but did do a lot of work on my own vehicles when I was younger so I do know how a clutch works etc. I know that the gear linkage worked perfectly before they did the work, I know that they will have had to disconnect it in order to remove the gearbox and fit the clutch. It’s possible that they could have damaged it, it’s possible that they haven’t reconnected it correctly. I don’t know because I’ve been at work all week.
They don’t know because they will not even come out to look at the car.

I have now jacked the car up, immediate observations are that the rubber cover on the underside of the gear linkage has not been refitted and is hanging off, the heat shield is still bent away from the linkage and when I opened the boot, the spare wheel cover has not been closed, presumably from when the disconnected the battery prior to doing the work. Was this job rushed? Very possibly.

So, I don’t know if they did any damage or if it’s just coincidence that the linkage failed. The fact that they told me without any hesitation that the linkage is “weak” means that they were aware of a potential problem but re-fitted the part regardless and made no attempt to warn me.
They will not come and look at the car, I can’t drive it, I’m now going to have to pay another mechanic to fix this issue.
