Booked remedial work and MOT retest (after previous service and MOT fail).

Very friendly and efficient, Liam turned up on time, phoned beforehand to let me know he was on his way. Steve turned up without warning the next day (after some kind of mixup with the test centre on Liam's visit) and an hour early, while I was on a Teams meeting at work.

BUT.

Three visits so far, a full service, over £600 of work, and still no MOT, (car failed the retest, after completion of the remedial work). Now quoting for more work. Is this bad luck because the car has been sitting on the drive for months? I don't know, but it doesn't help me get the car back on the road.
I think I'm going elsewhere, I can't afford to keep throwing money at it.

General comment about communications from Click Mechanic.
Too much spamming of texts onto my landline, the BT Text Service has to be one of the most irritating methods of communication invented by man, and unnecessary as everything gets emailed too.

Hi Hazel,

Thanks for your review. We are glad you found Liam friendly and efficient whilst carrying out the follow on work for your MOT retest.

The work which was carried out was coil springs, number plate lamp replacement and front brakes. When we initially took your car to the MOT centre it failed on coil springs and your front head lamp aim was incorrectly positioned. Once we carried out all the follow on work and took it back to the MOT station unfortunately it was still not passable due to an electrical fault whereby some of your lights on the vehicle had stopped working. Unfortunately this was completely out of our control and you can see on MOT history checker that these faults were on your vehicle.


I would suggest that the electrical fault has arisen due to your vehicle being sat on your drive for 7 months without use. However, as communicated to you, we would be unable to know this for sure without diagnosing the issue fully.

We apologise you are not happy about your MOT failure, we understand how frustrating this can be. However it’s a shame you feel as though the coil springs, number plate lamp replacement and front brakes quality was a 1/5 as all of these faults have been fixed.

I booked Clickmechanic for a service and an MOT, for a car that had been sitting on the drive for 7 months and now has an expired MOT. I received an email and an SMS to the landline to say it had been accepted by Steve.

First I got a phone call from a lady saying I'd booked a mobile mechanic and they couldn't do it. Ten minutes later I got another phone call from Steve to say that they could and he was going to reinstate the visit.

Liam turned up on time, having informed me that he was ten minutes away. He did the service, and then took the car to the test centre. Where it failed.

Liam then said he'd get a quote for the extra work, and left.
He also told me they "Don't do tyres".

Slightly disappointed, I hoped that getting a service would get it up to standard for the MOT, as it usually does in the garages I frequented in pre-pandemic times, and it's a good thing there was nothing much wrong with the tyres.

Hi Hazel,

Thanks for your review. Initially when we accepted the job we noticed you had written a note to say the car needed to be recovered which is why we rang to cancel, however when you spoke to Steve you clarified it did not need to be recovered.

Although a service on a car is recommended every year, this won’t ensure that your vehicle is MOT passable. Unfortunately, after taking your car to the MOT station it needed additional work which was completely outside of a full service. In terms of fitting tyres, as we are mobile mechanics we don’t have the space to carry a tyre fitting machine in ours vans, which is why we cannot carry out this work.


It’s a shame you felt as though the quality of the service was 3/5 as you have only mentioned your disappointment in the car failing it’s MOT which is completely outside of our control.

Liam was slightly late due to being stuck in traffic, but it didn't pose any problems for me. He was very friendly and efficient. Very happy with the work carried out.
