Yes. The urgent problem he highlighted was that the front brake pads were 90% worn. This seemed to conflict with the recent MOT, where there were no fails or advisories. I have since resolved this. The mechanic did a visual inspection. The MOT just does a break efficiency test. So, it turned out they were both right! But I will still get those pads replaced, before they start damaging the discs.
