Hello,
I am writing in regard to the work done on my Volvo by mechanic I R Mechanical.
This job was original set up being a clutch replacement via the pay in 3 Klarna option. The payment for this failed which resulted in the job 18356097 being cancelled.
I later messaged click mechanic through the chat option to ask about having the fly wheel added on.
The job had already been accepted by I R Mechanical, and he phoned me, and we discussed that I needed the fly wheel to be added on. I also stated that I would have to re book him for this job via click mechanic through Klarna.
The mechanic showed up on Friday at roughly 12pm and my partner gave him my spare set of keys as I was not present at the address at the time.
I later learned through an updated phone call with the mechanic that he had been given the wrong clutch for the job and would have to return the next day.
Upon my return to where the Volvo was parked on the street outside the address I was absolutely disgusted and confused with how my car had been left.
Both the front tyres were removed off the car laying on the floor with a tiny block of wood supporting the car. I have since noticed damaged to the rim of these.
Both drive shafts were left underneath the car along with other pins which I could of or anyone else driven over due to lack of care and respect for the job in question.
Then upon even further inspection the bolts and locking wheel nut were left in the wheels outside so anyone could have come along and stolen the parts.
The mechanic also left parts in my car and his own belongings such as an oil bucket and this has made the interior front of the car smell like a mechanics.
I placed all the items after documenting them into safe keeping in the Volvo.
I was also aware via your website that if a job can’t be completed at that time that the car has to be restored to how the mechanic has found it in the original state and this was not the case.
I was so worried about someone taking parts of my car we used a ring doorbell camera to try and ease my piece of mind a little.
I both called and messaged that evening with no reply just to raise my concerns on how my vehicle was left. I also contacted 101 non-emergency police line to raise my concerns about the workmanship and my worries over parts of my car possibly going missing.
Also unbeknown to me at this time the mechanic had taken my gear box and had this in his personal vehicle which I had not consented to. He also took my spare set of keys as he couldn’t wait for my partner who is indoors to come and retrieve them.
Come Saturday I was informed by the mechanic that the part would not be available till Monday. So, my car was now left resting on my tire rims for 4 days.
Upon discussing payment as my now original quote had gone sky high and not what I expected he said that he could do the job cheaper if I paid him in cash. Again, I revisited your website which states that anything should only be paid through the website if there were any issues with the job. He stated if I paid cash, I would get the job significantly cheaper. I then contacted yourselves via the quick chat and outlined my anxiety in how I was being spoken to and how I felt.
On Monday the mechanic then shows up in the pretty much dark without notifying me first and had begun work on the car. I was notified of this happening as we had the ring camera set up to keep a check on the car. I went to greet him and discuss the job and payment and I was given multiple different figures for the job. If I did it through click mechanic, it was now £1,600 if I paid him cash and or bank transfer it was £1,300 and the original job I was quoted £1,066.
I then asked if I could see the receipt of the fly wheel as I didn’t understand how the payment had so vastly increased and I was met with an undertone of aggressive I don’t have to tell you anything as he was adding on more money for finding that part. The part belonged to him as he found it which I found very hard to be confronted with. I do understand that as I needed the job done more quickly that the job would be slightly more expensive. However literally as he was finishing the job, I was being given quotes from other places that would have done this vastly cheaper and still in the time frame I needed the work done.
So now I am left way out of pocket, and I had to borrow money from my partner’s father. My rims are damaged and on my cars dashboard it is also giving me a warning error of tyres need to be realigned. Plus, the inside of my car on the passenger seat smells like a mechanics.
In summary from reading and understanding your website to then having this work carried out it doesn’t match up to the ethos of your company. I recently had the car serviced and diagnosed as needing just the clutch and fly wheel replaced and there were no other errors with the car at his time and I am now as previously mentioned having an error signal for my tyres.
I am less than dissatisfied with this workman ship from the mechanic and the anxiety and worry it has caused me as been something I didn’t even think I had to worry about.
I request that an investigation is opened into the workmanship of this mechanic as I wouldn’t want anyone else to worry about having their parts strewn under their car.
I would also like a refund on my priority booking. For someone to check and realign my tyres correctly and for the rims to be fixed with the tyre checks please. I would also request that there is an investigation into the wildly different quotes of fixing the car also.
I can forward all photo evidence and a video I made of how the car was left with yourselves also.
I look forward to resolving this with you
