Kieran diagnosed the problem fairly quickly and was courteous and professional on his visit to my house to examine the car. Was satisfied with his diagnosis as he showed me the broken coil spring.

Renault Clio Attend address, test and found battery has a failed cell, use jump pack to confirm starter working as it should. Liaise with customer who agreed to a replacement battery. (£20 knocked off initial £45 diagnosis as agreed) fit new battery and test. All ok.

Vauxhall Insignia Attempted to wind o/s piston back but appears it has over extended due to pads being allowed to go too low. There is a risk of the seal popping.

Mechanic was friendly however he turned up. Couldn't carry out the work that was booked and ended up charging me £21.50 for the sake of coming out. Said he could do the job however there was a chance my brake calipers could have been damaged as a result and he would be charging £170 per one if that was the case. I would not know if id have to pay such amount until he tried to change the brake pads over. Hoping they wouldn't damage so i wasn't lumped with a massive bill. Because i didn't take the chance, and wanted a second opinion, still got charged when the work wasn't done.

Hi, thank you for your reveiw. We must point out that the brake pads had been allowed to get low enough to over extend the piston.
Before putting more force on the piston to try and get it back we advised it would be safe to have a replacement caliper on hand should the worse happen. The calipers were not readily available and if the piston seal popped during this process you and your vehicle would have been stranded at work.
We advised we could get a caliper the following day and reattend and this would of had no extra charge. We made it very clear the chances were very slim it would result in requiring a caliper and there would no additional charge if this was the case.
The reasons behind being charged a reduced labour rate is the following:
. We had to drive 35 minutes to attend your workplace
. We spent 1 hour attempting to get your over extended piston back due to the pads being allowed to get too low
. You decided you didn't want us to reattend and complete the work and cancelled the job
I hope this clears up why you were charged the reduced rate.

Really happy with Kieran’s work. Nice guy and very professional. Was concerned that being a mobile mechanic that I’d be left with mess on the driveway and old parts in the garage. But Kieran took all the old parts with him and left the drive as good as new. Would definitely recommend.
