This is the worst experience I’ve had as a customer and I can’t believe this could’ve turned out this stressful or demoralising. The symptoms of the issue on my car were a sticking clutch and squealing.
To begin with my quote started out with click mechanic at £476 but then increased to £798 when the mechanic accepted the job. They said “also the brand of kit would be SACHS, as we have looked into this further this part would actually cost more, you would actually be paying £448 for just the part.” would they not know this before accepting the quote? I continued with the work as I needed the replacement and it still seemed reasonable.
The quote also stated the clutch kit would have a 12 month guarantee.
The mechanic came to pick up the car on Friday morning and I heard nothing for the rest of that day. When I called on Friday afternoon the receptionist informed me it was on the ramp.
I heard nothing on progress until Monday afternoon when they had the clutch off and informed me the flywheel was slightly burned. This then lead to them saying they would not guarantee the clutch even though the mechanic in the background of the phone call said it looked okay. Regardless I needed the car back so I agreed over the phone to continue with the clutch.
I called again to ask for progress and they informed me the car was still making the noise and they would look into it, bearing in mind at this point there was no mention of an official diagnostic and no one informed me it would incur any extra cost.
I called again to ask for progress (Tuesday afternoon by this point) and they told me it would be a further £141 cost to fix the issue and they said they would order the part.
On Wednesday morning I called again and they told me the part was on back order and that they were going to drop the car back to me. I double checked with the receptionist there were no extra costs and she reassured me there wouldn't be any. I called again Wednesday afternoon to confirm when my car would be back and that’s when they informed me that I would have to pay £60 for a diagnostic to which I refused as I had not agreed to an official diagnostic or been quoted for one. The mechanics demeanour then completely changed and they began to speak to me as if I was stupid and said they would discount this by £30 and sent me a sum up request by text. This felt like a ransom charge to have my car back so I paid it. My car was then not returned until 7pm on Wednesday evening.

First of all we advised you that flywheel needs replacing but you refused and told us to fit the clutch, second point is we don't you if we fit the clutcg then we cannot warranty the work because you have refused to pay for new flywheel, which you agreed to which i have evidence on message and call recording. We communicated with you everyday giving you update and you wanted us to look into the noise in the engine after we fininshed fitting the clutch, but didn't want to goe through click mechanic. We told you there will be a charge to look into this matter you agreed and afterwardsyou refused to pay the full diagnostic fee which was £60 and paid £30.

I recently used this mechanic and had a mixed experience. The main issue with my car was successfully fixed, and it’s been running well since, which I really appreciate.

Communication throughout the process was good—they kept me informed about delays and updates, which made things easier. However, the repair took significantly longer than initially expected, and the final price increased due to the extra time needed, which was a bit frustrating.

There was also a delay when it came to collecting my car, as the mechanic arrived later than planned. Overall, the quality of the work was solid, but the timing and cost could have been handled better.

They were really good communication wise.
Time wise not so positive.
Apparently my car was ready to go around 1615. Got collected 1740.
I was waiting around as I finished work at 5pm.
Automotive were aware on Tuesday of any issues.

I was a bit sceptical about having my car collected by a garage I haven't used before. Well I can definitely say I'll be using this garage to do all repairs from now on. The lady on the phone is a credit to the company as is the driver who collected my car and the mechanic who repaired and returned it.
