mmm - I wasn't happy with this service - they changed the date which was fine, they turned up with no tools, felt like a con, they returned 30 mins later with tools, and told me the engine was seized - I knew it was seized but was hoping they'd advise on remedial steps - i asked about various options they said no - and they're probably right - but when i turn up to work - I turn up ready - felt like folks looking to make a fast buck out of some folks who hadn't been around cars!

Hi John

We’re really sorry to hear you felt unhappy with our service. When we first arrived, I did apologise for not bringing tools straight away, as we wanted to first assess the situation. Once we understood it was necessary, we immediately returned to the garage, collected the tools, and spent around 30–45 minutes trying to identify the problem.

When we arrived, you specifically asked if we could try turning the engine to see if it was seized, so we did exactly that. We went under the car and used a ratchet to try and turn it, but unfortunately it didn’t move, confirming the engine is seized.


We understand this wasn’t the outcome you were hoping for, but based on our 25 years of experience, this type of issue isn’t something that can be solved with a quick fix, such as using cleaner through the glow plugs.

I appreciate your frustration, as no one likes to hear bad news about their vehicle, but we always try to be honest and transparent with our findings. Most of our customers have been satisfied with our service, and I’m sorry that on this occasion your experience didn’t meet your expectations.

A week ago, I used H.S. Mechanic to replace the timing belt and water pump on my Citroën C4 Cactus. I booked their mobile mechanic service and was delighted with how smoothly everything went. They were friendly, professional, and kept me updated from start to finish.

A few days later, they returned the car to my home, and it now drives better than when I first bought it. I’m very happy with the whole experience and would wholeheartedly recommend H.S. Mechanic to anyone looking for a trusted mechanic in the Herts and Beds area.

He didn't carry out the work, I refused to give him my car. I was thought he will do work at my home. His company doesn't exist on Google to begin with so I had no idea he would try to take my car to Luton. I thought he might just started his mobile mechanic business as company it self doesn't exist at all on Google. Turned out he apparently has garage in Luton, over 20 miles from where I live. I find that very suspicious. I only learnt it on a day. Had I known from get go my car was planned to be taken to Luton I'd cancel right away. Given this town and mechanics in there are routinely known for swapping working parts on cars that they work on. Generally bad rep, I'd never let my car be serviced there at all. Read more

Hi, thank you for your feedback. I would like to clarify a few points. We have only just opened our garage this month, and our Google listing is still being processed. It isn’t fair to compare us to other garages with negative reputations, as we take pride in our work and our integrity.

Regarding the booking, the ClickMechanic system clearly explains how jobs are allocated, and I regret that there was some misunderstanding. I did accept a job that was 20 miles away, which in hindsight was my mistake, but from the beginning the interaction felt hostile.

I have been servicing and repairing vehicles for over 25 years, and I take great pride in my work.
It is disheartening to read comments questioning my honesty and professionalism from someone who, unfortunately, did not follow the booking process correctly.

We are working hard to build a trustworthy reputation and provide quality service for all customers.
