What do I do if a Mechanic asks me to have the work carried out privately with them instead of using ClickMechanic?
At ClickMechanic, our goal is to provide a transparent, secure, and hassle-free experience for customers so that car care is easily accessible for everyone. We strongly advise against accepting any offers from mechanics to cancel your booking and undertake work privately outside of our platform.
When work is completed outside of our platform, the key protections and benefits associated with using ClickMechanic are lost:
No Payment Protection
If a mechanic completes work privately, we have no record of the transaction. This means we are unable to assist in the event of a payment dispute
No Warranty Support
Work completed outside of the ClickMechanic platform is not covered under our Terms of Service (https://www.clickmechanic.com/terms/warranty-requirements), which includes any warranties or guarantees associated with bookings made via our platform.
No Visibility
We are unable to verify what work was done, which parts were used, or if agreed-upon prices were honoured. This limits our ability to support you should anything go wrong.
No Payment Protection
All transactions on ClickMechanic are processed through an independent payment processor, providing secure and traceable payments. Off-platform cash or bank transfers don’t offer the same level of security.
