What is a water leaking into vehicle inspection?
The passenger cabin on a vehicle is sealed against the elements, be it from rain above to water and spray from the road. When a break in this seal occurs, water can access the cabin pretty quickly, soak into the carpets and generally wreak havoc with the internal electrics.
A water leaking into vehicle inspection is specifically aimed at finding the source of the leak in order to move forward with its resolution.
What causes water to leak into the vehicle?
There are many causes, from damaged door seals through to bonding failure between the cars panels. Water can appear in one place, however its source could be far from that point.
How can I prevent water leaking into a vehicle?
Whilst there is little you can do to avoid simple wear and tear or component age, there are a few things that you can do to avoid some issues
- Try not to trap things repeated in the doors as this damages the door seals
- Try not to put side windows down when there is excess dirt or ice on the glass as this damages the glass shield
- Occasionally treat the rubber seals around openings to a bit of rubber cleaner and enhancer so keep the fro going dry and cracking
What happens during a water leaking into vehicle diagnostic?
*The mechanic will check the gathering point for the water.
* They will then attempt to trace the water source back to the fault area
* Once this has been identified it will then dictate the next course of action
* If there is something they can do that is quick and doesn’t require any additional parts, then they will do what is required to seal it.
* If the leak requires parts and additional labour to resolve, then the mechanic will quote you on the required repairs.

FAQ’s
Can I supply my own parts?
No, we will not fit customer supplied parts unless they are a brand new item, purchased from a dealership with the receipt as proof of purchase. There is no flexibility over this due to insurance and warranty issues.
