I made a mistake when ordering my repair and requested that the nearside front wheel bearing be replaced not the offside. The vehicle was returned 2 hours later than agreed and when delivered I was told that they had replaced the nearside but on returning the car realised the offside was faulty. The mechanic admitted not inspecting the car prior to carrying out the work and tried to say the part he replaced was faulty. I have documentary evidence from another garage that this was not the case as it had been serviced the previous day where the fault with the offside had been identified. Although I contributed to the issue by mistakenly requesting the wrong side I would expect a reputable garage to inspect the item and not replace a serviceable part.
