I was very disappointed with the quality and thoroughness of this pre-purchase inspection.

I booked this inspection because I wanted an independent and reliable assessment of a vehicle before purchasing it. Unfortunately, the inspection report gave me confidence that the vehicle’s suspension was in good condition, with no significant concerns highlighted.

However, a subsequent inspection by another garage identified several issues that should have raised concerns during the original inspection:

* Excessive play in the nearside front lower suspension arm ball joint.
* Worn bushes on both front lower suspension arms.
* Rear brake pads found to be very thin.

These are not insignificant findings, particularly in the context of a pre-purchase inspection.

I relied on the original inspection report when making my purchasing decision. Discovering these issues shortly afterwards has resulted in unexpected repair costs and considerable inconvenience.

I subsequently raised a complaint and provided supporting evidence, including photographs of the removed suspension arms. The matter is currently still under investigation.

I appreciate that an inspection cannot guarantee a vehicle will be completely free of defects, but I do expect a mechanic carrying out a paid pre-purchase inspection to identify and accurately report visible and assessable safety-related issues.

Based on my experience, I cannot say I was satisfied with the thoroughness of this inspection, and I would be hesitant to use this mechanic again. Read more
