What is a suspension knocking diagnostic?
The suspension components and set up can be a complex array of parts. When working in perfect condition they provide the vehicle with a smooth ride, protected against the rough and uneven road surface as well as being the most important aspect of the vehicles handling.
When components wear, the dampening effect of the suspension can transform into a knocking and juddering as the parts start to collide into each other rather than the bushes that were designed to absorb the forces.
Due to the complexity of suspension components, it is not always easy to determine which parts are the root cause of the issues, so it requires a trained technician to go through the parts to locate the problem.
What happens during a suspension knocking diagnostic?
This very much depends on the characteristics of the fault and the components the vehicle has been built with.
The technician will go through the joints and mountings of the components, the bushes, springs, anti roll bar components etc. Once this is done, the mechanic will prepare a quotation for the repair work.
What does this diagnostic cover?
Unless otherwise stated, the quote for the diagnostic will cover;
- Coming to you
- Up to an hour with the vehicle
- Repairs that do not need parts or additional labour
- VAT (if applicable)

FAQ’s
Can I supply my own parts?
No, we will not fit customer supplied parts unless they are a brand new item, purchased from a dealership with the receipt as proof of purchase. There is no flexibility over this due to insurance and warranty issues.
