What is an electric window fault diagnostic?
On a large proportion of modern vehicles, the side windows are electronically controlled. Whilst these systems do not have a large number of components, their simplicity doesn’t mean they are less prone to faults. In fact, due to their constant use (and misuse!) means their operation can often become faulty and when that happens it can cause many issues.
What are the typical symptoms of an electric window fault?
Depending on the vehicle, some or all of the following may occur.
- One or more of the side windows fail to operate as required.
- The window glass can become dislodged.
- Windows can get stuck in the down position or not fully operate through the expected range.
What happens during an electric window fault diagnostic?
Depending on the vehicle in question, the mechanic will do some or all of the following;
- The mechanic will attempt to operate the faulty window to see what occurs.
- Depending on the outcome of the test, the technician may remove the inner door panel to gain access to the mechanism
- If required the technician will check the wiring and fuses along with the operation of the controlling button.
- If further work and parts are required, the technician will provide a no obligation quotation for their replacement.

FAQ’s
Can I supply my own parts?
No, we will not fit customer supplied parts unless they are a brand new item, purchased from a dealership with the receipt as proof of purchase. There is no flexibility over this due to insurance and warranty issues.
