Theo was amazing, he just took a job that a lot of mechanics find very complicated and made it look so easy, he was fast, efficient, friendly, polite and lastly he got the job done. I would not hesitate to use him again and I do highly recommend him to anyone who needs his services.
Theo Brown from Just Call Mechanics, Croydon CR7 6BD - Avoid this man, his engineering skills and his diabolical approach to customer service.
Booked mechanic for brake pad change Friday 27/11 between 10 and 12PM. Customer to supply parts.
Mechanic arrived 12:15PM. His van was dirty inside and out, with a cracked windscreen and missing interior panels. Theo and his colleague blew into filthy disposable gloves, reusing them despite being visibly contaminated from a previous job. Red flags already.
He informed me within 30 seconds of starting work that Clickmechanic had underquoted me for this job.
He said that and that the brakes were "giving him hassle".
More red flags.
For the entire duration of the job Theo was using his mobile phone to have a conversation with another person appearing to conduct negotiations, asking for "a deposit of £100 so I know you're serious".
I should have asked him to leave at this point.
I left them to work and when I returned Theo informed me that the job would be much more expensive to complete. I asked why and he said that "your brakes are seized" I did not accept that they were seized. I inspected the work and asked Theo why there was damage to the brake pad pin he had been working on. He said "it's not my fault your brakes are rusty". I was not trying to blame him - I was asking why it was broken into several pieces and bent. I had spare brake pad pins ready to give him to complete the work and they are inexpensive parts.
At some point in our discussion Theo decided he'd had enough of trying to be a mechanic. He said that I was speaking to him like a "fool" and an "eejit" and told me I needed "to watch how I was speaking to" him because "I'm [He is] the mechanic".
He stepped towards me and repeated this statement, reminding me that "I can't speak to people like that" and that I needed to "be careful what I said". By deliberately leaving out explanation of consequence I can only imagine he was trying to intimidate me.
He then started to pack up his tools and told me to "take it to Mercedes" - i.e. to take the car to a Mercedes Benz Dealership. I told him that wasn't an option due to my schedule. His colleague then asked me how much I thought it would cost for a brake pad change by Mercedes. I said that it was not a useful comparison and he said "I'm just trying to ask a question" - remember this for later.
Theo informed me that he would be charging me £66 callout fee and whether I was happy to pay it. I said I was not. He turned his back on me and got back into his van.
I received a £66 receipt for "callout charge" which Clickmechanic did not explain to me.
Summary: Theo arrived late, performed no useful work on the car, damaged the brake pad pins and then told me he didn't like my attitude so that he could leave and take another job, collecting the callout fee at the same time.
Theo charged me a callout fee of £66.
He then sent a further quote for £174.10+ for "Removing and replacing retaining pin" PER SIDE [£348 + £66 Callout]. This is criminal behaviour.
His colleague spoke only to extract a figure out of me that they could demand for correcting their shoddy roadside techniques. Theo only looked me in the eyes when he was attempting to intimidate me. He stayed on his mobile throughout the job and then left when it looked like "a hassle".
People like you are the cause of the UK automotive repair industry's lowly reputation. You're a crook with a van.

Theo was great. He came on time and fixed my manifold intake on the driver side of my Range Rover Sport. 3.0. It was a wet day and my car was just outside my garage and he just cracked with the job. You see I had attempted to do the job myself previous and stopped half way through as I got stuck and really fed up with the job. He finished the job off in a few hours and even showed me a few tricks. I am glad I called a pro in. Thanks Theo...
A+

Theo@clickmechanics.... sorry if you found this text confusing.
Theo fixed the problem quickly when he arrived, which is good. However he was supposed to be here between 8-10 Saturday. When I phoned at 10.15 he didn’t have the part and hadn’t chased it. Promised to call straight back but didn’t. Rearranged for 10-12 on Monday. Finally arrived just after 3.
Theo was great. Got the problem identified and sorted very quickly.
Very happy with the work carried out.
Theo was great, fixed the clutch master cylinder, but discovered further work needs to be carried out. He will provide a quote and deal with it.
