We had tried to agree on same day, and if not, on the next morning. But the young man didn't leave his mobile number with me, so I didn't know if he would turn up the same evening. However, he was on time the next day.
Had the right tools for changing the alternator. Has been working for 9 years, so he knows VW cars. I was expecting him to have a jump lead, since I told him the day before that battery has gone flat. I had to buy jump lead for another £10 that evening to jump start the car from another friend's.
All in, I am confident that he knows what he is doing, which is the key.
So, apart from that extra jump start which I had to do myself, he did his work and didn't mind me asking him questions.
