Third of Motorists Don’t Enjoy Driving Anymore

More than a third of motorists don’t enjoy driving Britain’s roads anymore. This was the conclusion of a survey held by the Institute of Advanced Motorists. Half of the respondents noted that they didn’t enjoy driving anymore due to increasing petrol prices while 28% said that they just didn’t enjoy the experience of driving anymore. We wonder if this is related to the increasingly distant driving experiences of cars on sale in showrooms today. For 41% this did not matter at all, they instead said that congestion took away their enjoyment of driving.

Thankfully, 39% of drivers said the complete opposite and stated they still enjoyed driving, seeing it as a hobby and some noted that they still go out for a spin to have some fun. Interestingly half of the 2229 respondents said they were more relaxed when their partner was not in the passenger seat. It appears that it is indeed mostly other people who prove to be a problem when driving. Over 60% of people noted that other road users prevent a relaxed drive; the behaviour of other drivers made respondents feel nervous.
